Top 10 Week of Dec. 4: 'Leave the World Behind' Debuts at #1 and Most Watched Title of the Week
Leave the World Behind, the new apocalyptic thriller from director Sam Esmail starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, Myha'la and the world's most ominous deer, debuted at #1 on the English Films List with 41.7M views, making it the most watched title this week. Films for the whole family were also a hit this week. Family Switch, the body-swap comedy starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms, took second place with 18.6M views. Leo, the animated film from star, co-writer and producer Adam Sandler took third place in its third week on the list with 14.2M views, taking its total views since launch to 72.4M. The Super Mario Bros. Movie skidded into fourth place with 13.2M views.
The thrills kept coming over on the English TV List, with fans sending the raunchy, action-packed comedy Obliterated to #1 with 9M views in its second week on the list. The new swoon-worthy YA drama My Life with the Walter Boys debuted at #2 on the English TV List with 7.5M views, and went viral on TikTok. Epic reality competition series Squid Game: The Challenge - which crowned its first winner on December 6 - took third place with 6.6M views. Part 1 of the sixth and final season of The Crown took sixth place (2.5M views) and Season 5 of Virgin River took eighth in its eighth week on the list (2.2M views).
It was a strong week for debuts on the Non-English TV List. Gritty crime drama Blood Coast (France) nabbed the #1 spot with 5.6M views, romantic comedy Welcome to Samdal-ri (Korea) came in at #5 (2.3M views), Season 2 of romance I Hate Christmas (Italy) took the #9 spot (1.1M views) and YA drama High Tides (Belgium) rounded out the list at #10 (1.1M views).
The Non-English Films List also featured strong launches. One of India's most anticipated films of the year, comic adaptation The Archies (India) debuted at #3 (2.2M views). The star studded Mumbai premiere was attended by Bollywood biggest stars in an unprecedented show of support for the cast and director, Zoya Akhtar. Action thriller Hard Days (Japan) punched in at #9 (1.3M views), and drama thriller Blood Vessel (Nigeria) grabbed the #10 spot (1.2M views).
