ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' IS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR THE 4TH WEEK IN A ROW
'Nightline' Posts Strongest Numbers in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 Since January, Plus Grows Week to Week in All Key Target Demos
Season to Date, 'Nightline' Grows in Total Viewers
ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (897,000) for the 4th week in a row during the week of March 27, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. In fact, "Nightline" took the top spot over CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in Total Viewers in 10 of the last 11 weeks.
"Nightline" saw week-to-week increases in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+5% - 897,000 vs. 851,000), Adults 25-54 (+7% - 220,000 vs. 206,000) and Adults 18-49 (+16% - 151,000 vs. 130,000), posting its strongest numbers in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 since January ― since weeks of 1/23/23 and 1/16/23, respectively.
Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+6% - 914,000 vs. 864,000). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos.
This week, "Nightline" covered the catastrophic tornadoes in Mississippi towns and Little Rock, Arkansas; the shooting at The Covenant School, plus how the Nashville shooting suspect legally bought guns; former President Donald Trump's indictment with commentary from political experts; Gwyneth Paltrow's ski crash lawsuit win; Taylor Swift fans suing Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation; Whitney Houston's new gospel album; Jeremy Renner who opened up about the snowplow incident exclusively to ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer; Starbucks workers' union fight on Capitol Hill; the Tennessee LGBTQ+ community bracing for a public drag queen ban; and the NIL (name, image, likeness) market that's shaken up college and high school sports, and more.
NOTE: On Thursday (3/30/23) and Friday (3/31/23), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "Late Late Show-JC-ENC" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" for the week due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS' and NBC's weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
