ABC NEWS' 'NIGHTLINE' RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS

'Nightline' Hits 10-Week High in Total Viewers

'Nightline' Grows Week to Week and Year to Year in Total Viewers

Season to Date, 'Nightline' Is Improving in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers during the week of Dec. 5, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" also beat CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

"Nightline" improved on Total Viewers both week to week (+4% - 892,000 vs. 858,000) and year to year(+13% -892,000 vs. 788,000). "Nightline" also hit a 10-week high (since w/o 9/26/22) with its 2nd-largest Total Viewer count of the season.

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+8% - 898,000 vs. 828,000) and Adults 18-49 (+3% - 156,000 vs. 152,000). In addition, "Nightline" leads CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in all key target demos.

This week, "Nightline" covered the life and legacy of the late, Emmy(R)-winning actress Kirstie Alley; ABC's new documentary "Our America: Lowballed"; the final push by Democratic incumbent Reverend Raphael Warnock and GOP candidate Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate race runoff; the results of the Georgia Senate runoff race; the growing problem of teenage gambling addiction as online betting becomes more widespread; and "No Barriers," the Colorado-based nonprofit helping people with mental and physical difficulties achieve their goals.

NOTE: On Friday (12/9/22), CBS' "The Late Late Show with James Corden" was retitled to "Late Late Show-JC-ENC" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" was retitled to "Seth Meyers-SM" due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS and NBC weekly averages are based on three days (Monday-Thursday).
