Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NFL Preseason Puts CBS on Top

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/24/18):

CBS (3.882 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) was the top draw on Friday with its primetime coverage of "NFL Preseason: Lions at Buccaneers" (3.882 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1).

NBC (3.023 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) then was the silver draw with repeats of "American Ninja Warrior" (2.804 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and "Dateline NBC" (3.463 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2).

Next up was FOX (2.028 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and its telecast of "BIG3" (2.028 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.048 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up its mix of "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.823 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), "Speechless" (2.320 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), "What Would You Do?" (3.144 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) and "20/20" (3.429 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2).

And finally, The CW (1.577 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night with repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (1.652 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), another "Masters of Illusion" (1.672 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.493 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/3 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.5/3 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/1 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

CBS (4.817 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was the network to beat on Friday with its coverage of "NFL Preseason: Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks" (4.817 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1).

The silver then went to NBC (3.959 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) with repeats of "America's Got Talent" (3.765 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) and "Dateline NBC" (4.348 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2).

Next up was ABC (3.653 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and its trio of "Shark Tank" (3.790 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.315 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) and "20/20" (3.855 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.034 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up encores of "MasterChef" (1.952 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7) and "Beat Shazam" (2.115 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7).

And finally on The CW (1.432 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5), a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.414 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9) and second runs of "Masters of Illusion" (1.399 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.459 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9) rounded out the night.
