Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Holds Onto Top Spots in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/6/16):

NBC (7.396 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was still the network to beat on Wednesday with a recap edition of "America's Got Talent" (8.247 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) and a new "The Night Shift" (5.696 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4).

CBS (4.320 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then claimed the silver with its trio of "Big Brother 18" (6.099 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1), "Criminal Minds" (3.751 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5) and "American Gothic" (3.110 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

Next up was FOX (3.158 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with originals from "MasterChef" (3.959 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and "Wayward Pines" (2.358 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.907 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up its repeat lineup of "The Middle" (3.865 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (3.078 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Modern Family" (3.215 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Black-ish" (2.934 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.368 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and "The Real O'Neals" (1.982 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13).

And finally, second runs of "Arrow" (0.925 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "Supernatural" (0.811 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) on The CW (0.867 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets (the Knoxville market is currently excluded), household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.2/6 with an encore telecast; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.4/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.4/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.8/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/8/15):

FOX (3.781 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) was the demo champ on Wednesday thanks to new episodes of "MasterChef" (4.837 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) and "Bullseye" (2.726 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Sharing the top spot was NBC (5.001 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) with encores of "America's Got Talent" (6.589 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and "American Ninja Warrior" (4.206 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4).

Next up was CBS (5.367 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its mix of "Big Brother 17" (5.840 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1), a repeat "Criminal Minds" (5.204 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) and a new "Extant" (5.056 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.533 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up repeats of "The Middle" (3.936 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12), "The Goldbergs" (3.367 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9), "Modern Family" (3.984 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #5) and "Black-ish" (3.610 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #6) plus a new "Celebrity Wife Swap" (3.150 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

And finally, second runs of "Arrow" (1.236 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) and "Supernatural" (0.868 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T14) on The CW (1.052 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.2 rating while the latter posted a 0.2 rating.
