Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, "Empire" Continue Their Demo Reign

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/11/16):

FOX (6.987 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) claimed the demo crown on Wednesday with new episodes from "Rosewood" (4.262 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9) and "Empire" (9.713 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.6, #1).

ABC (5.561 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was the number two draw with its mix of "The Middle" (6.634 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (6.131 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4), "Modern Family" (7.118 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2), "Black-ish" (5.419 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5) and "Nashville" (4.033 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12).

Next up was CBS (7.113 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and its combination of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (9.429 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2), "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (6.023 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9) and a second "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (5.887 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.650 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up originals from "Heartbeat" (4.307 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.957 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7) and "Chicago PD" (6.686 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7).

And finally, fresh installments of "Arrow" (2.196 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13) and "Supernatural" (1.753 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14) on The CW (1.974 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/13/15):

ABC (6.226 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the network to beat among adults 18-49 on Wednesday with the season finales of "The Middle" (6.987 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5) and "The Goldbergs" (6.712 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4) followed by new episodes of "Modern Family" (8.096 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) and "Black-ish" (6.170 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3) and the season closer to "Nashville" (4.695 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9).

FOX (7.739 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then claimed the silver with the season finale of "American Idol" (7.739 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6).

Next up was CBS (7.666 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with new episodes of "Survivor: Worlds Apart" (9.434 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) and "CSI: Cyber" (6.878 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T10) alongside the season finale of "CSI: Cyber" (6.688 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T10).

Meanwhile, NBC (6.580 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) served up the penultimate weeks of "The Mysteries of Laura" (6.141 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.762 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8) and "Chicago PD" (6.837 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6).

And finally, the season finale of "Arrow" (2.798 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12) and a new "Supernatural" (2.142 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #14) on The CW (2.470 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.8 rating while the latter posted a 0.6 rating.
