More Than 112.76 Million People Have Watched All or Part of CBS News' Major Broadcasts This Season

Original reporting from around the globe propelled CBS News major broadcasts to a mix of strong year-to-year growth, #1 time period finishes, season-to-date dominance and solid results with the key adults 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen live plus same day and Nielsen most current ratings through the week ending Nov. 8.

For the week, 60 MINUTES, FACE THE NATION and CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD remained the #1 programs in their respective time periods with viewers, while the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY, CBS THIS MORNING and CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY each bested rivals in year-to-year audience growth within the evening news and morning news categories. Meanwhile, 48 HOURS, preempted by sports, maintained its season-long position as Saturday night's #1 non-sports program.

In terms of audience reach, CBS News is unrivaled, with more than 112.76 million people having watched all or part of the Network's major news programs throughout the first seven weeks of the 2015-2016 television season. An estimated 43.42 million of that cumulative audience are in the adults 25-54 demographic, which is most desired by those who advertise in news.

Here's a recap of how CBS News broadcasts performed last week, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings:

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest year-to-year increase in viewers among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending Nov. 6. The broadcast delivered 7.57 million viewers (+4%, from 7.25m last year) and a 1.4/05 with adults 25-54. The CBS broadcast closed the viewership gap with NBC by three-quarters of a million viewers (750,000) and with ABC by 290,000 viewers. Season-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is posting the biggest audience gains among the network evening news broadcasts. The broadcast is delivering 7.01 million viewers (+6% from 6.59m last year) and is even in adults 25-54 (1.3/06).

60 MINUTES remained the nation's #1 news program, and on Nov. 8 delivered its best audience this season and its best audience since January. The broadcast delivered 15.76 million viewers (+30%, from 12.16m last year) to finish #4 for the week among all programs on any network and a 3.9/10 with adults 25-54.

FACE THE NATION was the country's #1 Sunday morning public affairs program on Nov. 8. The broadcast delivered 3.51 million viewers and a 0.8/04 with adults 25-54. FACE THE NATION posted its best adults 25-54 delivery since May 3, 2015. Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 57.4% of the CBS affiliates. Season-to-date, FACE THE NATION is delivering 3.47 million viewers (+6% from 3.26m last year) and a 0.7/03 with adults 25-54.

CBS THIS MORNING was the only network morning news broadcast to post year-to-year gains among viewers compared to a year ago for the week ending Nov. 6. The broadcast delivered 3.61 million viewers (+6%, from 3.41m last year) and a 0.9/07 with adults 24-54 (+13%, from 0.8/06). CBS THIS MORNING closed the viewership gap with NBC by 320,000 viewers, and cut the deficit with ABC by 790,000 viewers. Season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is up +9% in viewers (3.41m from 3.12m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.8/07) compared to last year.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD was the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54 on Nov. 8. CBS SUNDAY MORNING delivered 5.46 million viewers and a 1.2/06 with adults 25-54. Season-to-date, CBS SUNDAY MORNING is the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54 (1.1/06) and viewers (5.40m).

48 HOURS remains Saturday's #1 non-sports program with viewers on a season-to-date basis, delivering 5.49 million viewers and is posting a 1.4/04 with adults 25-54. Editor's note: 48 HOURS was preempted by sports programming on Nov. 7.

CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY was the only Saturday morning network newscast to post year-to-year increases in adults 25-54 and viewers on Nov. 7. The broadcast delivered 2.15 million viewers (+8%, from 1.99m) and a 0.5/04 in adults 25-54 (+25%, from 0.4/03) compared to last year. Season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY is up, +10% in viewers (2.17m from 1.97m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.5/04) compared to last season.
