Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Claims Top Demo Spot with "Modern Family"

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/1/15):

ABC (6.951 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) was the demo champ on the first night of April thanks to new episodes of "The Middle" (7.572 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (7.180 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4), "Modern Family" (9.333 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1), "Black-ish" (7.401 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and "Nashville" (5.110 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9).

FOX (8.366 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then claimed the silver with a new two-hour "American Idol" (8.366 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T5).

Next up was NBC (6.522 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and fresh installments from "The Mysteries of Laura" (6.360 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #10), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.320 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8) and "Chicago PD" (6.886 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #7).

Meanwhile, CBS (7.422 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) offered up a new "Survivor: Worlds Apart" (9.470 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3) and the concluding "The Dovekeepers, Part 2" (6.398 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

And finally, new episodes of "Arrow" (2.357 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12) and "Supernatural" (1.741 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13) on The CW (2.049 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.6 rating while the latter posted a 0.5 rating.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with James Corden" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show with James Corden" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (9.862 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) slipped into the top spot on Wednesday thanks to new episodes of "Survivor: Cagayan" (9.552 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3), "Criminal Minds" (10.374 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2) and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (9.661 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T5).

FOX (8.766 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then had to settle for second place with a new two-hour "American Idol" (5.976 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.1, #4).
