"48 Hours: Live to Tell: Sole Survivor" Is Saturday's #1 Non-Sports Program with Viewers and Adults 25-54

"48 HOURS: LIVE TO TELL: SOLE SURVIVOR" IS SATURDAY'S #1 NON-SPORTS PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54

48 HOURS: LIVE TO TELL: "Sole Survivor" was Saturday's #1 non-sports program with viewers and adults 25-54 - the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news - according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Jan. 3.

48 HOURS averaged 5.10 million viewers and a 1.4/04 with adults 25-54. Compared to the previous first-run broadcast (Dec. 13), 48 HOURS was up +4% in viewers (from 4.88m) and even in adults 25-54. Compared to last year, 48 HOURS was up +27% in adults 25-54, +29% in adults 18-49 and +9% in viewers.

Saturday's broadcast featured the remarkable story of a young woman whose family was shot to death by a random intruder. Robin Doan survived the shooting in her Pampa, Texas, home and played dead for two hours before calling police.

She shared with viewers her story of that night and her efforts to help police find the gunman who killed her mother, stepfather and brother.

Anchored by correspondent Erin Moriarty, 48 HOURS: LIVE TO TELL: "Sole Survivor," included interviews with a deputy sheriff who responded to the home after the shooting, investigators, prosecutors and Robin Doan's friend, Denise Mackie.

LIVE TO TELL is a short-run series from the producers of 48 HOURS delivering first-hand accounts of extraordinary people who refuse to give up when facing death. 48 HOURS: LIVE TO TELL: "Sole Survivor" is produced by Ruth Chenetz. Doreen Schechter, Joan Adelman and Grayce Arlotta-Berner are the editors. Judy Tygard is the series creator and senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
