Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC Claims 5 of the Week's Top 10 Playback Gainers, Tying CBS, NBC and Fox Combined

Live + 7 Day Ratings for the week of 5/5/14 (Week #33):

ABC claimed 5 of the week's Top 10 broadcast gainers in TV playback among Adults 18-49, tying CBS (3), NBC (1) and Fox (1) combined: Modern Family (+2.0 rating points) - #2, Grey's Anatomy (+1.5 rating points) - #4, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.3 rating points) - #5, Once Upon a Time (+1.2 rating points) - #7 and Nashville (+1.1 rating points) - #8.

Growing +92% over its Live+SD rating, ABC's Nashville stood as the week's biggest percentage gainer on the broadcast networks among Adults 18-49. In addition, The Goldbergs spiked +77% this week over its L+SD Adult 18-49, placing among broadcast's Top 5 percentage gainers of the week with its largest playback increase yet.

In the final Live + 7 Day ratings, The Goldbergs emerged as Tuesday's #1 comedy among Adults 18-49 (2.3 rating), leapfrogging over NBC's About a Boy to lead by 21% (1.9). In the first reported L+SD numbers, The Goldbergs ran 2-tenths of a rating point behind About a Boy. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. shot up to the week's Top 10 highest-rated broadcast series in Adults 18-49 (3.2), ranking #10 versus #16 in the initial Live + Same Day numbers. In fact, the new ABC drama moved ahead of the Tuesday edition of NBC's The Voice (3.0) to virtually tie CBS' NCIS as Tuesday's #1 TV program among Adults 18-49 (3.2 vs. 3.3). In the L+SD ratings, S.H.I.E.L.D. placed behind The Voice-Tue, NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Based on TV playback data for the 2013-14 season, ABC claims 5 of the Top 10 playback gainers among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (the most of any net): Modern Family (+2.1 rating points) - #2, Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating points) - #4, Scandal (+1.6 rating points) and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.6 rating points) tied at #5 and Resurrection (+1.3 rating points) - #9. ABC owns 4 of the 10 biggest overall gainers on the broadcast networks (tied with CBS): Modern Family (+4.42 million) - #5, Castle (+4.34 million) - #6, Scandal (+3.92 million) - #7 and Grey's (+3.90 million) - #8.

Nearly all of ABC's returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: The Bachelor (+24% vs. +22%), Castle (+63% vs. +50%), Celebrity Wife Swap (+33% vs. +17%), Dancing with the Stars (+19% vs. +13%), Grey's Anatomy (+67% vs. +52%), Last Man Standing (+46% vs. +33%), Modern Family (+60% vs. +51%), Nashville (+73% vs. +61%), Once Upon a Time (+55% vs. +41%), Revenge (+63% vs. +45%), Scandal (+53% vs. +36%) and Shark Tank (+30% vs. +21%).

· Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday's #1 scripted show this season with Adults 18-49 based on original telecasts, beating CBS' NCIS (4.0 rating vs. 3.9 rating). Based on first-run telecasts in the L+7 Adult 18-49 ratings, ABC claims the season's #1 scripted show on Tuesday (S.H.I.E.L.D. - 4.0), #1 show on Wednesday (Modern Family - 5.6), #1 drama on Thursday (Scandal - 4.6), #1 show on Friday (Shark Tank - 2.6) and #1 broadcast series on Sunday (Resurrection - 3.8). Further, based on originals in the L+7 ratings, ABC owns the Top 2 dramas on Thursday with Scandal (4.6) and Grey's (4.5) and the Top 2 broadcast series on Sunday with Resurrection (3.8) and Once Upon a Time (3.4) among Adults 18-49

· Modern Family is the season's #2 scripted series among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (5.6 rating).
