Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "The Voice" Tops Demos as NBC Edges CBS

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/22/13):

NBC (9.023 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) was the top demo draw on Tuesday with its mix of "The Biggest Loser 15" (6.636 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.0, #7), "The Voice" (12.847 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1) and "Chicago Fire" (7.586 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.1, #6).

CBS (15.462 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #2) then was a close second place with originals from "NCIS" (18.580 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #2), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (14.870 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.6, #T3) and "Person of Interest" (12.937 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #5).

Next up was ABC (5.075 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3) and its lineup of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (7.127 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.6, #T3), "The Goldbergs" (5.264 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #9), "Trophy Wife" (4.030 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #13) and a repeat of "Shark Tank" (3.450 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.501 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4) served up new episodes of "Dads" (3.608 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T11), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (3.777 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.6, #10), "New Girl" (3.759 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.8, #8) and "The Mindy Project" (2.858 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T11).

And finally, fresh installments of "The Originals" (2.153 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.9, #16) and "Supernatural" (2.298 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.0, #15) on The CW (2.225 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Originals" delivered a 0.9 rating while "Supernatural" posted a 0.8 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.6/3 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.3/5 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/23/12):

NBC (7.05 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) once again took home the demo crown on Tuesday with its mix of "The Voice" (10.91 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 4.1, #1), "Go On" (6.41 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.5, #5), "The New Normal" (4.49 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.8, #10) and "Parenthood" (4.79 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T8).

CBS (14.77 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #2) then was a competitive second place with originals from "NCIS" (17.35 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.2, #2), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (16.25 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #T3) and "Vegas" (10.72 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #13).

Next up was FOX (4.64 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3) with fresh installments of "Raising Hope" (4.13 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T11), "Ben & Kate" (3.05 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T14) and "New Girl" (5.23 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.7, #T3) plus a special one-hour "The X Factor" (5.63 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.4, #6).

Meanwhile, ABC (7.46 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4) offered up a new "Dancing with the Stars" (12.71 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #7) followed by the return of "Happy Endings" (5.93 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T8) and "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" (4.28 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T11) plus a new "Private Practice" (4.56 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T14).
