"48 HOURS MYSTERY" SWEEPS ITS TIME SLOT AS SATURDAY'S #1 PROGRAM ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 31

The Broadcast Scored Its Best Delivery in Both Households and Viewers Since November 8, 2008.

On Saturday, Jan. 31, CBS News' 48 HOURS MYSTERY (10:00-11:00 PM ET) was the night's #1 program in households and viewers and #1 in its time slot in key demos, posting: 5.3/10 in households, 7.97m viewers, 2.4/07 in adults 25-54 and 1.8/05 in adults 18-49. These numbers marked 48 HOURS MYSTERY's best delivery in both households and viewers since November 8, 2008. Compared to the same night last year, the program was up 39% in households, +33% in adults 25-54 and +29% in adults 18-49.

The broadcast, entitled "Conspiracy to Kill," asked the question "Who killed The Black Widow of Lomita?" Sonia Rios was raised in the Philippines but moved to the United States and eventually fell in love with Navy Commander Larry Risken. However, years later Larry learned Sonia was sabotaging his efforts to adopt two of her young relatives back in the Philippines and asked for a divorce. Shortly thereafter, on his trip to visit those children, Larry was assassinated. This was horrible news to his relatives, but they soon heard an even more shocking development: Sonia had previously been married to another military man, and he, too, was murdered in the Philippines. And then, nearly a year to the day of Larry's death, someone killed Sonia Rios in the same manner her husbands were murdered - a bullet wound to the head. But with so many people having motives, who actually killed her? No one has been charged in the case.
