WEEK No. 10:

During the week spanning the final 3 nights of the November Sweep and the extended Thanksgiving weekend (w/o 11/24/08), ABC marked its 2nd week in a row as the No. 1 network among Adults 18-49 (2.9/8 - tied w/CBS in rating but leading in actual number of young adults 3.81 million vs. 3.79 million). It was the Net's 3rd time in 4 weeks to hold the No. 1 position in the key young adult sales demographic. ABC also for the 2nd week in a row ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-34 (2.1/7-tie), and for the 10th consecutive week this season registered as the No. 1 network in Women 18-34 (2.6/8) and Women 18-49 (3.5/10).

Although the week contained the Thanksgiving holiday with lower TV usage levels, ABC increased its overall audience week to week (10.3 million vs. 10.1 million).

2008 November Sweep (Complete 28 nights 10/30-11/26/08) -- ABC finished No. 1 for the 4th straight November Sweep, the Network's longest winning streak during the month since the early 1990s since a streak going back to the start of the Nielsen electronic database from 1991-1994. ABC also claimed 7 of the Top 10 individual entertainment telecasts during November 2008 among Adults 18-49.

Season to date, based on all programming, ABC ranks No. 1 among Adults 18-49 in both the Program Ratings (3.3/9 tied w/CBS) and Commercial (C3) Ratings (2.9 - Commercial Ratings + 3 Days of Playback).

Rankings: ABC claimed the Top 2 most-watched TV shows overall for the week, with the Monday (11/24) and Tuesday (11/25) seventh-season finales of "Dancing with the Stars." The Net delivered 6 of the week's Top 20 TV shows in Adults 18-49, including the No. 1 scripted program with "Desperate Housewives": "Desperate Housewives" No. 2, "Dancing with the Stars Results" No. 5, "Dancing with the Stars" No. 6, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" No. 12, while "Brothers & Sisters" and "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" tied at No. 18. In addition, "Desperate Housewives" stood as the week's No. 1 TV program among Adults 25-54 and among key Women (W18-34/W18-49). ABC's annual rebroadcast of "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" registered as the week's No. 1 TV show with Kids 2-11 to qualify as the first broadcast program to finish in the top spot this season and going back to the season finale of "American Idol" in May.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to more than 28% currently, from 21% at the same point in 2007. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Monday

ABC's Monday lineup saw week-to-week increases of nearly 1.0 million viewers (15.2 million vs. 14.3 million) and 9% in Adults 18-49 (3.6/9 vs. 3.3/8), producing the Net's strongest numbers on the night in both viewers and young adults in 7 weeks since 10/6/08.
