Riding High: Netflix Thai Content Soars into 2024

Today marks an exciting moment as we present the 2024 Thai slate as part of our Next on Netflix campaign. With seven series and one feature film, our local lineup promises to be bigger, bolder, and best in class for our members throughout the year.
The momentum for this year builds on the remarkable reception of our Thai series and films last year. All six titles were very different and I'm passionate about every one of them. Each one was helmed by a well-known director, and we even managed to persuade some of Thailand's most beloved filmmakers like Nonzee Nimbutr (Once Upon a Star) and Pen-Ek Ratanaruang (6ixtynin9 The Series), to come out of their hiatuses.
Films like Hunger, The Murderer, and Once Upon a Star, alongside series like DELETE, 6ixtynin9 the Series, and Analog Squad, not only showcased the diversity of Thai storytelling but also paved the way for Thai content to capture hearts globally.
I've always believed Thai stories possess a unique universal appeal; we often offer a refreshing perspective on the common human experience, whether it's social inequality or thorny family relationships.
Hunger, in particular, not only resonated with local audiences but also gained international love and recognition. It clinched the Best Feature Film at the 2023 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) and was Netflix's most-watched film from the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of 2023.
With such trailblazing achievements, it's little wonder that anticipation for what's coming up is running high.
Bigger and bolder than ever
This year, we are pushing the envelope with redefined quality, unparalleled variety and never-before-seen local storytelling. Whether it's science fiction, horror, rom-com or upscale drama, we have an unmatched range of titles catering to every taste, making it the most diverse lineup to date in Thailand.
Our viewers expect best-in-class productions, and we're raising the bar - from VFX to depict an unprecedented Thailand in anthology series Tomorrow and I to turning a conventional Thai soap opera into a slick, upscale experience in Master of the House.
Collaborating with the industry's top creators, a mix of established and up-and-coming directors and production houses, alongside with big, recognizable talents, we're gearing up for a year that will transform the Thai entertainment landscape.
With stories that are both new and unheard-of for Thai audiences, we're boldly pushing boundaries by delving into untold topics, capturing perspectives on social issues from religion (The Believers) to sex (Doctor Climax).
We don't always have to start from a fresh idea to deliver something new; sometimes, it's about adding a twist to an already popular genre or program. With Ready, Set, Love, we put a unique and vibrantly colorful spin on the light-hearted rom-com by setting it in an alternate universe. We then took some of the most haunting stories from a popular radio program and turned them into a horror series, Terror Tuesday: Extreme. Similarly, we delve into chilling mysteries in Don't Come Home. We're also rebooting our much-loved Bangkok Breaking series, and its grown-up version, a film called Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell, is darker and features more action.
Additionally, we've pioneered new working processes and invested in the professional growth of creators to uplift the industry itself. Even as we aspire to be our fans' destination for must-watch Thai stories, we want to cultivate a thriving community of storytellers, who can redefine the possibilities of Thai entertainment on a global stage.
