BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Disney+) - The streamer has shelved the proposed eight-episode prequel series due to "creative reasons, with the scripts and original music not coming together in the direction expected or running behind schedule. With a number of creative elements up in the air and the shoot's start already pushed from early spring to summer, a decision was made to put the project on hold. Pushing filming further into the fall was not an option because of talent availability and weather concerns, sources said." (Deadline.com)
BIG SKY (ABC) - Constance Zimmer is slated to recur on the series as Alicia, "an accountant who proved herself invaluable to Veer Bhullar's (Bernard White) business even before they fell in love. Charismatic, cunning and confident, Alicia's success comes from her tendency to observe and assess long before she acts. But while Alicia may have earned Veer's trust, her real challenge will be earning the trust of Veer's children, Ren (Janina Gavankar) and Jag (Vinny Chhibber), who will do whatever it takes to protect their legacy from interfering outsiders." DRAMAWORLD (IMDb TV, New!) - The streamer has acquired the Korean-American series from Third Culture Content with the first two seasons dropping this Saturday, February 12. Netflix previously offered the first season back in May 23, 2016. The series "follows an American girl who is obsessed with K-drama and is underwhelmed by her real life become catapulted into the world of the Korean dramas she obsesses over. There she meets a facilitator who keeps "Dramaworld" turning through deft but undetected intervention in each storyline. She tumbles headfirst into another show starring her K-drama crush but upsets the equilibrium of "Dramaworld" by kissing her hero." Liv Hewson, Sean Dulake, Justin Chon and Nuri Bae star with Daniel Dae Kim, Brett Gray, Henry Lau and Ha Ji-won joining in season two. The show was created by Josh Billig and directed by Chris Martin. (Variety.com)
END OF WATCH (FOX, New!) - David Ayer has scored a script-to-series commitment for a new drama at the network based on his 2012 movie, which "follows the daily grind of two young Los Angeles police officers who are partners and friends (Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña in the film), and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves." Ayer and David Matthews are co-writing the script for FOX Entertainment, Cedar Park Studios and Raven Capital Management with Chris Long, Darryll C. Scott, John Lesher, Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi and James Masciello likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
IMMIGRANT (Hulu) - Andrew Rannells will recur on the Kumail Nanjiani-led limited series as "the rich kid investor in Chippendales New York and the love interest of producer-choreographer Nick De Noia, played by Murray Bartlett." (Deadline.com)
LITTLE FILMS/LUCKY (HBO, New!) - Julio Torres is developing a pair of half-hour comedies at the pay channel as part of a two-year, first-look deal. "Little Films," which has received a series order with Torres headlining, "tells the tale of when he lost a golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it and the musings he has along the way become points of departure for little films, as Julio navigates weaving in and out of these introspective, often eerie comedic stories." David McCary will direct and also executive produce alongside Fruit Tree's Emma Stone, Irony Point's Alex Bach and Daniel Powell and 3 Arts Entertainment's Olivia Gerke. Ali Herting serves as co-executive producer. "Lucky" then hails from Torres and Spike Einbinder, and is billed as "the coming-of-self story of Lucky, a trans non-binary, dog-obsessed misfit who joins forces with fellow queers in the world of Brooklyn's gig economy." 3 Arts Entertainment's Katie O'Brien and Olivia Gerke also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
NEW AMSTERDAM (NBC) - Adam Rose has booked a two-episode arc on the series as "a bartender who becomes a surprising antagonist for the doctors." (TVLine.com)
PATIENT, THE (FX) - David Alan Grier is latest to score a top secret role on the Steve Carell/Domhnall Gleeson-led limited series. (Deadline.com)
PITCH PERFECT (Peacock) - Todd Strauss-Schulson has been tapped to direct and executive produce the debut installment of the film franchise-turned-TV series. Richie Keen in turn will serve as the producing director. (Deadline.com)
QUANTUM LEAP (NBC) - Helen Shaver has been tapped to direct and executive produce the pilot for the proposed reboot series. (Deadline.com)
WASHINGTON BLACK (Hulu) - Rupert Graves and Shaunette Renée Wilson have both been cast in the limited series. Graves will play Mr. Goff, "a British scientist who travels to Nova Scotia with his daughter, Tanna (Iola Evans), after fleeing social stain, the dwindling of fortunes in London, and lessened influence with the Crown." And Wilson will portray Big Kit, "who is a singular, driving force in Wash's life. She teaches him to dream in the mythic vernacular of her West African heritage. And she teaches him to fight - because Kit is an engine of constant resistance." (Deadline.com)
WHITE LOTUS, THE (HBO) - Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Will Sharpe and Leo Woodall are the latest bound for the new season. James and Fahy will play "married couple Cameron and Daphne Babcock, who are vacationing with another couple, Ethan Spiller (Sharpe) and his wife, Harper (previously cast Aubrey Plaza).
