BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (Peacock) - Michael Lesslie has exited the proposed reboot series as lead writer and showrunner. No other details about the change were given. (Deadline.com)
BLACK MAGIC (CBS, New!) - Meredith Dawson has sold a single-camera comedy to the Eye in which "the power dynamic in a family of overachievers is upended when the runt of the family discovers a new talent. The thing that will challenge them and also bring them together is her Black Girl Magic." Party Over Here's Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are also on board to executive produce for CBS Studios. (Deadline.com)
BUCKTOWN (ABC) - Emmy winner Jane Lynch has joined the cast of the multi-camera comedy pilot, about Amy (Shannon Woodward), "who, after being dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of her apartment on the eve of a big promotion, finds refuge at her mom's house in the blue-collar neighborhood where she grew up." She plays Helen, her mother, "who's rough around the edges and salty as hell but the most loyal woman you'll ever meet." Additionally, Betsy Thomas has signed on to direct and executive produce. CHI, THE (Showtime) - Filming on the upcoming fourth season has been suspended for a week following a positive COVID-19 test. (Deadline.com, 3/21)
EPIC (ABC) - Eleanor Fanyinka is the first to be cast in the romantic anthology series pilot as The Seer, "a mysterious and playful figure who can lead you down the path of true love." (Deadline.com)
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (Amazon) - Chrissie Fit is the latest to score a role on the top secret feature film-turned-TV series. (Deadline.com)
JACK REACHER (Amazon) - Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald and Chris Webster are set to star opposite Alan Ritchson in the streamer's TV series based on Lee Child's international bestselling books. Goodwin will play Chief Detective Oscar Finlay, "a Harvard-educated, tweed suit-wearing Northerner who recently relocated to the small town of Margrave to take a job in the Margrave Police Department." Fitzgerald is Roscoe Conklin, "who was born and raised in Margrave and is a smart and proud officer in the Margrave PD. She is resilient and is intimidated by nothing and no one." And Webster stars as KJ, "the spoiled son of businessman and town benefactor Kliner. KJ thinks the town and townspeople, especially Roscoe, belong to him." (Deadline.com)
LA BREA (NBC) - Nicholas Gonzalez and Rohan Mirchandaney are the latest to be cast in the upcoming drama. Gonzalez will play Levi Brooks, "an Air Force pilot and Gavin's (Eoin Macken) best friend who is recruited to lead the mission to save the people who fell into the sinkhole." Mirchandaney will portray Scott, "a tour guide at the Tar Pits Museum. He uses humor to make light out of serious situations." (Deadline.com)
MADDADDAM (Hulu) - Michael Lesslie is developing an Margaret Atwood adaptation at the streamer, billed as "an apocalyptic thriller about genetic reinvention, corporate domination and young love" in which "a brilliant and complicated young man so disturbed by the injustices of the world that he spends his young life developing a virus that will wipe out humans and replace us with a new species of hominid." Anonymous Content's David Kanter and Bard Dorros and Makemake Entertainment's Angus Wall and Kent Kubena will executive produce alongside Lesslie and Atwood for Paramount Television Studios. Darren Aronofsky was behind a previous attempt at HBO in 2014 to bring the trilogy of books to the small screen. (Deadline.com)
RUTHLESS (BET) - Kelvin Hair is slated to recur on the series' second season as Lewis, "an ex-con who is now a member of the Rakudushi Cult. He has worked his way up to become a loyal and trusted servant to Dikahn, the second in command of the Rakudushi's." (Deadline.com)
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - Shakira Barrera will recur on the show's final installments as "a recently released inmate who goes on a terrorizing crime spree when she hits the streets." (Deadline.com)
SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR, THE (FX) - Y'lan Noel has booked the title role on Sam Greenlee's spy novel-turned-drama pilot, which "tells at the fictional story of Dan Freeman (Noel), who has just been hired as the only Black operative in the CIA. He is a patriot, a Vietnam vet, and secretly, a Black Revolutionary." (Deadline.com)

TALES (BET) - Patrick Coker and Adam Wiesen have signed on as head writers for a third season of the series. They'll succeed former head writer Robert Munic. Coker will also be making his directorial debut on an episode centered on "C.R.E.A.M" by Wu-Tang Clan. Irv "Gotti" Lorenzo, Ron Robinson, Darcell Lawrence, John Bryant, James Seppelfrick, Keith Neal and Eric Tomosunas also serve as executive producerse for Visionary Ideas Productions. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED HAWKEYE SPIN-OFF PROJECT (Disney+, New!) - Alaqua Cox, who plays Maya Lopez (a.k.a. Echo) on the upcoming Marvel Studios series, is reportedly being eyed for a spin-off. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are spearheading the project, which would follow Lopez, a deaf Native American character who "has the ability to perfectly copy another person's movements or fighting style, making her a formidable opponent in battle." A writers' room has recently being assembled. (Variety.com)
WIR KINDER VOM BAHNHOF ZOO (Amazon) - The streamer will roll out the current German series - a visually stunning coming of age epic that paints a provocative, controversial and impressive picture of the Berlin drug and club scene - in the U.S. beginning Friday, April 9. (Deadline.com)
YOUNGER (Paramount+) - Ana VillafaƱe will recur on the show's final season as KT, "a highly organized type-A music manager to Floaty V, a very needy, on-the-go pop star. Always on the call, KT carries two phones and manages to keep the chaotic organized, often at the expense of her personal life. When Floaty V wants an Inkburg tattoo, KT's interest is piqued by more than just ink." (Deadline.com)
