Netflix renews Invisible City for a second season

São Paulo, March 2nd, 2021 - After enchanting the world and reaching the list of most watched content on Netflix in more than 40 countries, including Brazil, for at least one day, the series Invisible City has just been renewed for a second season. The plot full of mystery, thought-provoking police investigation and human conflicts also brought characters inspired by the Brazilian folklore in a contemporary reinterpretation by the creator and co-producer Carlos Saldanha. The production remains under Prodigo Films for Netflix.

"It is a great joy to see our product from Brazil reach so many parts of the world and please so many people. It was my first 100% Brazilian project, with Prodigo Films, and I couldn't be happier with the opportunity to continue telling this story. I received a lot of comments, I read a lot about what people want for the second season, and I'm taking everything into consideration to bring a nice sequel to the public", said Saldanha, known for the animated franchises Ice Age and Rio, in addition to Ferdinand, nominated for an Oscar for Best Animation.

While in the first season Saldanha created a gateway to an invisible world in Rio de Janeiro, his hometown, which he usually honors in his productions, the goal for the next season is to explore another region of the country. The new characters that will inhabit it, however, are still kept in secret. The cast is not yet confirmed, but there will also be new names.

"Invisible City was born from a beautiful desire to bring back characters from our folklore. These stories are part of the affective memory of Brazilians, but that had not yet been approached in a contemporary vision. While we are celebrating the positive reception of fans of the series in Brazil and in other countries, we also recognize that we have an even greater commitment to making more people see themselves represented in this second season. We're happy to continue working alongside Carlos Saldanha and his creative excellence", stated Haná Vaisman, gerente de conteúdo de Séries Originais Brasileiras da Netflix.

Additional information on the start of production will be released later.
