BIG SKY (ABC) - The Alphabet has commissioned an additional six episodes of the newcomer, bringing its season total to 16. (Deadline.com)
BOSCH (Amazon) - Annie Wersching's Julia Brasher is set to return for the show's upcoming final season. (TVLine.com)
CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Cleveland Berto is joining the cast of the veteran drama as Officer Jalen Walker, "who is super idealistic and in all ways golden boy (athlete, smart, family man, scholar). His character turned down Wall Street to work for the Chicago Police Department, as he wants to see if he can make a difference and change the status quo." (Variety.com)
DOLLFACE/MAID (Hulu/Netflix) - Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara's LuckyChap Entertainment has signed a first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios. The pact gives the streamer first crack at the company's future output. (Variety.com)
HEARTBREAK HIGH (Netflix, New!) - The streamer has greenlit a reboot of the 1990s Australian teen drama, about the students at Hartley High School set in Sydney. Fremantle Australia and Dutch production company NewBe are behind the project, due in 2022, with Chris Oliver-Taylor, Carly Heaton and Jeroen Koopman as the executive producers. NewBe acquired the rights from Brian Abel, partner of the late Ben Gannon, who created and produced the original, which is currently available on the service. (Deadline.com)
LORD OF THE RINGS, THE (Amazon) - Bryan Cogman has inked a multi-year overall deal with Entertainment One, wrapping his run at Amazon Studios. There he'll develop new projects, including a contemporary series based on Akira Kurosawa's "Yojimbo." (Variety.com)
NO STONE UNTURNED (NBC) - Drew Lindo has sold a new take on Steve Jackson's book, subtitled "The True Story of the World's Premier Forensic Investigator," to the network. Jonathan Collier was behind a previous incarnation last season for Todd Milliner and Sean Hayes's Hazy Mills Productions. The project would likewise follow "the NecroSearch international investigation team - a group of the nation's top scientists, specialists and behaviorists - use the latest technology and most advanced techniques to solve "unsolvable" crimes outside the justice system." Martin Gero is also on board to executive produce via his Universal Television-based Quinn's House banner. (Deadline.com)
ONCE UPON A TIME IN AZTLAN (Amazon, New!) - George Lopez is attached to star in a potential drama at the streamer "described as reaching into the deep suburbs of Los Angeles to characterize a Chicano family coming to terms with the falsehoods of the American dream, and their ability to defy expectations." STXtv, Mad Hatter Entertainment and Amazon Studios are behind the project, which was written on spec by Javier Rodriguez. Ricardo de Montreuil is also on board to direct and executive produce alongside Lopez, Rodriguez, Estevan Oriol, Mister Cartoon, Michael Connolly, Mark Suroff and Marco Valadez. (Variety.com)
PENN & TELLER: FOOL US/WORLD'S FUNNIEST ANIMALS (The CW) - The netlet has ordered additional cycles of both series: the former's eighth and the latter's second. "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" returns for the second half of its seventh season on January 8; while "World's Funniest Animals" continues its freshman run on December 17. (Variety.com)
PRODIGAL SON (FOX) - Christian Borle and Michael Potts have scored recurring roles on the upcoming season. Borle will play Friar Pete, "a former friar ejected from his church for extremist views, he is famous for a notorious killing spree that has landed him in the psychiatric ward with Martin (Michael Sheen)." Potts will portray Brandon Marsh, "Martin's new therapist at Claremont who's desperate to have a breakthrough with his psychiatric patients." (Deadline.com)
REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS, THE (Bravo) - The reality staple is the latest high-profile series "to have its production shut down as a result of COVID-19." Star Kyle Richards revealed over the weekend "that she and her daughter, Sophia Umansky, had tested positive for the virus." (Deadline.com)
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - Chelsea Alden will recur on the show's final season as Tish, "who works as a cashier at a furniture store, where Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) rescues her from an irate customer." (Deadline.com)
WALKER (The CW) - Matt Barr is the latest to recur on the reboot series as Hoyt, "Cordell Walker's (Jared Padalecki) best friend. Described as "Hill Country's Han Solo" and a "Lonestar lothario," it's noted that the two friends will find themselves on opposite sides of the law." (EW.com)
