DOPESICK (Hulu) - Peter Sarsgaard is set to star opposite Michael Keaton in the limited series as Rick Mountcastle, "an Assistant U.S. Attorney prosecuting the Purdue Pharma case." (Deadline.com)
FAMILY GUY (FOX) - Sam Elliott will recur on the veteran series as the new Mayor of Quahog: "Mayor West's cousin, whose first and middle names are Wild. That's right - meet Wild Wild West. Wild West comes East to Quahog when Peter becomes unhappy with the candidates in consideration for the job and decides that the town needs a celebrity figure who is fun, so Peter persuades him to run for office. FX ORIGINAL SERIES (FX) - John Landgraf, the chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, has detailed the cable channel's production plans going forward. Filming was recently completed on "Fargo" and "A Teacher"; while "Breeders," as previously reported, is currently in production. "The Old Man," "Y: The Last Man" and the third installment of "American Crime Story" will resume production in the fall; followed by "Better Things," "What We Do in the Shadows" and "Atlanta" in the first half of 2021. ("Atlanta" will shoot its third and fourth seasons back-to-back.) Finally, "Pose," "Snowfall," "Mayans MC," "American Horror Story," "Mr Inbetween" and "Dave" are in "various states of pre-production" for unspecified start dates. (Deadline.com)
NO PULLING OUT NOW (Quibi, New!) - Comedian Michelle Buteau will topline a new project for the streaming service which "will feature her alongside her various celebrity and comedian friends as they have honest and hilarious conversations with today's exhausted moms and dads to address the long list of parenting issues that most find too awkward to discuss in public." Sirens Media is behind project with Buteau, Jessica Sebastian-Dayeh, Blake Webster and Rebecca Donohue executive producing. (Deadline.com)
WESTING GAME, THE (HBO Max, New!) - Ellen Raskin's classic novel - which "follows the bizarre chain of events that begins when 16 people gather for the reading of a millionaire" - is being developed for television by the streaming service and MGM Television. Julie Corman will executive produce the project, which has a script-to-series order. The search is underway for a writer. (Deadline.com)
