MASKED SINGER, THE (FOX) - On the heels of his termination by ViacomCBS, FOX has released a statement indicating host Nick Cannon will continue on the series: "When we were made aware of Nick Cannon's interview with Richard Griffin on YouTube, we immediately began a dialogue with Nick. He is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and context, and inadvertently promoted hate. This was important for us to observe. Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends. On that basis and given a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance this important conversation, broadly. FOX condemns all forms of hate directed toward any community and we will combat bigotry of any kind."

Added Cannon: "First and foremost I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with Richard Griffin. They reinforced the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naïve place that these words came from. The video of this interview has since been removed. While the Jewish experience encompasses more than 5,000 years and there is so much I have yet to learn, I have had at least a minor history lesson over the past few days and to say that it is eye-opening would be a vast understatement. I want to express my gratitude to the Rabbis, community leaders and institutions who reached out to me to help enlighten me, instead of chastising me. I want to assure my Jewish friends, new and old, that this is only the beginning of my education - I am committed to deeper connections, more profound learning and strengthening the bond between our two cultures today and every day going forward."

NINE PERFECT STRANGERS (Hulu) - Samara Weaving is the latest addition to the limited series as Jessica, one of the titular "perfect" strangers. Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Manny Jacinto and Melvin Gregg also star. (Deadline.com)
SHINING VALE (Starz) - Greg Kinnear is set to star opposite Courteney Cox in the horror-comedy pilot as Terry Phelps, "Pat's sweet, sensitive husband. He assumed he was married to the perfect wife until she had an affair with their young handyman, destroying the kitchen island, and maybe his marriage. Ever the optimist, Terry is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his family together, including intensive couples therapy and cashing in all his assets to buy an Old Victorian house in the suburbs of Connecticut, trading his 12-minute commute for a 90-minute train ride into the city. Despite his brave face and can-do spirit, it is clear that he has some deep-seated resentment, which occasionally peeks out as rage. Especially when his wife tells him she believes their new house is haunted. Terry's challenge will be to ride out whatever is going on with Pat, without completely losing his own mind in the process." (Deadline.com)
TERROR, THE (AMC) - Dave Kajganich has signed an overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios where he'll create new series projects for the company. (Deadline.com)
UNDESIRABLES, THE (Amazon, New!) - Ken Cheng and Arvin Chen have set up a half-hour comedy series at Amazon Studios "set in a near-future Los Angeles that explores the unexpected relationships that form when a group of outcasts are forced to bond under unusual circumstances." SB Projects' Scooter Braun, Scott Manson and James Shin and Crab Club's Jessica Gao and Jimmy O. Yang are also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED DAVID RENAUD PROJECT (ABC, New!) - David Renaud has sold a semi-autobiographic drama to the Alphabet about "a doctor whose life is upended when a tragic accident robs her of her ability to walk." Osprey Productions' Josh Berman and Jennifer Robinson and Exhibit A Film's Julia Gunn and Seth Gordon will also executive produce for Sony Pictures Television, the latter of which is attached to direct. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED QUINN COLSON PROJECT (HBO, New!) - The pay channel is developing a TV series based on Ace Atkins's literary hero, Quinn Colson, "a former Army Ranger who returns to his home in rural northeast Mississippi. But upon returning, he discovers that where he grew up has been overrun with corruption, drugs, and violence." No other auspices were given for the project. (Variety.com)
WEIRD BUT TRUE! (Disney+) - A 13-episode third season of the series will make its debut on the streaming service beginning August 14. Charlie Engelman and Carly Ciarrocchi host the project, which originated on the Xploration Station three-hour syndicated block airing on FOX stations throughout the country. National Geographic's Tracy Rudolph Jackson and Steve Rotfeld Productions' Steve Rotfeld are executive producing with Stephanie Burns and Charlie Engelman as co-executive producers.
