EVEL (USA) - The cable channel has shuttered its Milo Ventimiglia-led limited series about the life of late 1970s-era daredevil Evel Knievel. Said decision is tied to Ventimiglia and writer Etan Frankel's shrinking availability following the project's production shut down. Producer Universal Content Productions nevertheless plans to shop it elsewhere. "USA is incredibly disappointed to have had to make this decision, as we were so excited about this project and working with Milo, Etan, and everyone involved," the network said in a statement. KIDDING (Showtime) - The pay channel is parting ways with the Jim Carrey-led comedy after two seasons. "After two seasons, Kidding has concluded its run on Showtime. We are very proud to have aired this imaginative, critically acclaimed and rewarding series, and we would like to thank Jim Carrey, Dave Holstein, Michael Aguilar, Michel Gondry and the entire cast and crew for their brilliant and tireless work," Showtime noted in a statement. MONSTERLAND (Hulu) - Kelly Marie Tran has booked a role on the upcoming anthology series as Lauren, "who returns to her small Michigan hometown to be married. She had managed to build a new life for herself after her best friend, Elena, went missing when they were 16." Kaitlyn Dever, Taylor Schilling and Mike Colter are also among those featured in the series. (THR.com)
NICK CANNON PRESENTS: WILD 'N OUT (VH1) - ViacomCBS has cut ties with Nick Cannon following anti-Semitic comments on his podcast "Cannon's Class." Said the company in a statement: "CBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast 'Cannon's Class' on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds." PLAYER VS. PLAYER WITH TREVOR NOAH (Quibi, New!) - Trevor Noah is set to host a new entry for the streaming service and Comedy Central Studios which will "see him going head-to-head with some of the biggest names in the gaming world. After all, Noah claims to be the best non-professional FIFA player on the planet." Noah and Haroon Saleem will executive produce for Day Zero Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin for Mainstay Entertainment and Bob Bain for Bob Bain Productions. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NYLE DIMARCO PROJECT (Spectrum, New!) - Nyle Dimarco is set to star in an irreverent comedy at the company "centered around his experiences as a charismatic, smart deaf man in modern times. The episodes look to offer funny, character-based storytelling designed to provide a deeper perspective on the experiences of the deaf and hard of hearing communities in America." 3AD's Daniel Dae Kim, John Cheng and Tara Bohn and Melrose Placed's Sami Housman will also executive produce.
