1% HAPPY (HBO Max, New!) - Dani Fernandez is set to write and star in a single-camera comedy for the streaming service about "a woman who, after a particularly dark period in her life, is forced to move back in with her estranged father and attend weekly group therapy with a class of oddballs. Showing the funny and relatable sides of Clinical Depression, the series challenges both the stigma of mental illness and the United States healthcare system itself." South Park & Princeton Productions' Roy Wood, Jr. will executive produce alongside Fernandez. (Deadline.com)
13 REASONS WHY (Netflix) - Executive producer Tom McCarthy has signed a multi-year overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios. McCarthy' Slow Pony banner was previously set up at Paramount Television, home to "13 Reasons Why," which will wrap its run in 2020. (THR.com)
BLACK COFFEE (Quibi, New!) - Writer/director Morgan Cooper has sold a single-camera comedy to the streaming service in which "after an injury derails his chances of going pro, a former basketball star from Kansas City becomes a national barista champion. He decides to move back home and open a coffee shop in his old neighborhood, hoping to revitalize the struggling community." I'll Have Another's Gabrielle Union and Holly Fleischer will also executive produce for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
BLESS THIS MESS (ABC) - Nicole Richie is slated to recur on the show's sophomore run as "Sierra Rio's NYC BFF, who would probably tell you she's from Brooklyn, but she's a spoiled Upper-East-Sider through and through. And she cannot wait to host her wedding at Mike and Rio's "super rustic, kind of gross" farm." (Deadline.com)
CODE 8 (Quibi, New!) - The streaming service has commissioned a TV series spin-off from the independent sci-fi thriller starring cousins Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell. "The crowdfunded feature is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with supernatural abilities - but instead of being treated as heroes, they are feared and heavily policed. The series will take place years after the events of the movie, centering around an ex-con (Robbie Amell) and telekinetic drug dealer (Stephen Amell) who are forced to work together to bring down a dangerous trafficking ring run by corrupt cops and the city's elite." The film's director Jeff Chan and writer Chris Paré will both return for the series with the Amells likewise executive producing for Colony Pictures and XYZ Films. (Deadline.com)
KIDLESS (FOX, New!) - Mnelik Belilgne has booked a single-camera comedy at the network "that follows two married couples, a widow and a single dad, who must reimagine their lives now that their kids have left the nest." 20th Century Fox Television and FOX Entertainment are behind the project with FanFare Productions' Jamie Tarses executive producing and Belilgne as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
LAST OG, THE (TBS) - Chelsea Frei has scored a recurring role on the upcoming season as Luna, "a millennial Brooklynite who is politically correct to a fault. She is self-righteous and rife with contradictions; She's a hippie, anti-consumerist who loves shopping and an ardent feminist who unironically loves The Bachelorette." (Deadline.com)
LORD OF THE RINGS, THE (Amazon) - Ema Horvath is the latest bound for the much-ballyhooed TV series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
MEDICAL POLICE (Netflix) - Executive producer Jonathan Stern has signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group. The pact gives the company exclusive access to his Abominable Pictures banner's output. (Deadline.com)
PURGE, THE (USA) - Ethan Hawke will reprise his role of security system salesman James Sandin from the feature film in the next week's second season finale. (Deadline.com)
REALLY GOOD DAY, A (Showtime, New!) - Anna Chlumsky is attached to star in a small screen take on Ayelet Waldman's book, subtitled "How Microdosing Made a Mega Difference in My Mood, My Marriage, and My Life." Waldman herself will pen the dramedy, with Michael Chabon and Film 44's Peter Berg, Michael Lombardo and Elizabeth Rogers likewise executive producing for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY PROJECT (Quibi, New!) - British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is set to host a new docu-series at the streaming service in which she "will get up close and personal with beauty industry trailblazers, telling the story behind some of the biggest breakthrough products in history through interviews and visually compelling beauty segments." Alfred Street Industries' Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Volpe and Kim Ray will executive produce alongside Huntington-Whiteley and Lily Berg. (Deadline.com)
SUPERGIRL (The CW) - Thomas Lennon has been cast in the series as DC Comics staple Mxyzptlk, "the impish, reality-bending trickster from the 5th Dimension, who previously visited National City to woo Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl, but created chaos in the process." He'll take over from Peter Gadiot, who played said role during the show's second season. (Deadline.com)
