ART OF DYING, THE (Starz, New!) - Yaniv Raz has likewise set up a "modern-day gothic horror series" at the pay channel "that revolves around a group of young bio-engineers in New Haven who conduct clandestine tests of illicit DNA editing techniques on members of the underprivileged population surrounding the city, in order to more quickly find cures for degenerative illnesses." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
AWKWAFINA/HIGH FIDELITY/SHRILL (Comedy Central/Hulu) - Actress Natasha Lyonne is set to direct installments for all three series. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Lisseth Chavez has landed a recurring role on the upcoming season as Vanessa Rojas, "a street smart, gritty, resilient, fearless undercover cop." Said role has an option to become a series regular. (Deadline.com)
EXTRA (Syndication) - Host A.J. Calloway has been terminated following Warner Bros. Television's investigation into multiple allegations of sexual assault. "The company has investigated the claims made into Mr. Calloway's conduct and he and the company have mutually agreed to part ways," the company said in a statement. (THR.com)
GOOD TROUBLE (Freeform) - Azita Ghanizada is slated to recur on the current season as Kendra Zahir, "a new employee at Speckulate, where Mariana works, who arrives to shake up the company culture." (TVLine.com)
GREEN CROSS (Netflix, New!) - Yaniv Raz has sold a potential dark comedy to the streaming service "inspired by his Florida-based psychologist mother who, through a series of mishaps, is misidentified as a spy by a series of heavyweight players involved in the Middle East conflict. In Green Cross, she is bored with her suburban life and soon decides to pretend to be the secret agent whom they wrongly believe she is." Raz will write and executive produce. KAOS (Netflix) - Tanya Seghatchian and John Woodward's Brightstar banner, the company behind the upcoming series, has inked a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. The pact gives the streaming service first crack at their TV output. (Deadline.com)
KIDDING (Showtime) - Ariana Grande will make a "tiny appearance" on the Jim Carrey series in a yet-to-be-revealed capacity. (EW.com)
LAST AMERICAN VAMPIRE, THE (Quibi, New!) - Terry Matalas's small screen take on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel - about "a young female FBI agent who is partnered with a wealthy, 500-year-old vampire bon vivant to protect the world from a dangerous threat" - has found a new home at the short-form video service. NBC previously commissioned a script for the project. Matalas, Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg and Aaron Schmidt are the executive producers for the 20th Century Fox Television-based KatzSmith Productions. (THR.com)
