APEX (CBS, New!) - Terry Matalas has sold a new drama to the Eye about "the daughter of a notorious serial killer who returns to work hunting down murders and deviants for the FBI years after living an inconspicuous suburban life." Sony Pictures Television-based Davis Entertainment is behind the hour with the company's John Fox and John Davis likewise executive producing. (THR.com)
BLACK LIGHTNING (The CW) - Erika Alexander has scored a three-episode arc on the show's sophomore season as Perenna, "a therapist with telepathic abilities that works with Jennifer (series co-star China Anne McClain) to help her handle her manifesting powers and the complex bundle of emotions they stir up." (Deadline.com)
COMPLETENESS (ABC, New!) - Writer Adam Stein and director James Griffiths are set to team for a new drama about "a company sets out a shingle to provide its clients with what's missing in their lives. Whatever you need - a friend, a mother, a grandson, a husband - the Complete Company's versatile facilitators can become it for you. The resulting relationships are more real than you'd expect, and sometimes way more complicated." Michael Strahan, Constance Schwartz and Thea Mann of SMAC Entertainment will also executive produce for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
CONNERS, THE (ABC) - Justin Long will recur on the "Roseanne" spin-off as Neil, "a love interest for none other than Sara Gilbert's Darlene." (TVLine.com)
DEAD TO ME (Netflix) - Sam McCarthy has scored a role on the Christina Applegate/Linda Cardellini-led comedy as Charlie, "Jen's (Applegate) older, edgier son. Like his mom, Charlie harbors a simmering anger as he tries to grapple with the sudden loss of his dad." (Deadline.com)
EMPIRE (FOX) - Joss Stone will drop by the veteran drama as "the key female artist on Jamal's London label." (TVLine.com)
EXES IN LAW (NBC, New!) - Niki Schwartz-Wright has sold a potential comedy to the Peacock inspired by a real-life relationship she had: "When Tess and Alex have an explosive break-up and vow never to see each other again, they're horrified to discover that their younger siblings (and best friends) have been secretly dating and will soon be wed. Now, not only do they have to see each other again, they're about to be family." Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner are also on board to executive produce via their Universal TV-based Hazy Mills banner. HEATHERS (Paramount) - The network's previously shelved series is back on the air as part of a five-night event beginning Thursday, October 25 at 10:00/9:00c. (@paramountnet)
I-LAND, THE (Netflix) - Kyle Schmid is the latest addition to the sci-fi drama as Moses, "a bit of a hippie who has a generally laid-back vibe, even in the face of real danger." (Deadline.com)
KTOWN (HBO, New!) - Jason Kim and Greta Lee have set up a dark comedy at the pay channel about "L.A.'s most eccentric zip code - Koreatown - and the kingpin family at the center of it." Lee will also star as Yumi, "self-proclaimed Brentwood Barbie and daughter of the Kang family, who reconnects with her "embarrassing" Korean roots to become a powerful Korean-American woman." Executive producing alongside the duo are Annapurna TV's Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, Ali Krug and Susan Goldberg. (Deadline.com)
MR. IGLESIAS (Netflix) - Fabrizio Guido has been cast in the Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias-led comedy as Mikey Gutierrez, "one of the at-risk students Mr. Iglesias is dedicated to protecting. Mikey is a sweet, clueless kid who will spend the school year trying to impress his crush Marisol while navigating the hallway bullies." (Deadline.com)
OBSOLESCENTS, THE (NBC, New!) - Andrew Gottlieb has sold a single-camera comedy to the Peacock which "takes place in a New Jersey suburb where the facade of peace and civility is disrupted by the shocking death of a long-time Township Council member." Meg Ryan is on board to executive produce (and potentially star) alongside Broadway Video Television's Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer. Universal TV is producing. (Deadline.com)
PANIC (Amazon) - Ray Nicholson, Will Chase and Kevin Alves are the latest additions to the pilot. Nicholson will play Ray Hanrahan: "Big, good-looking and dangerous, Ray is the only kid you'd expect to succeed in a town like Carp: a high school apex predator." Chase then is Sheriff Kean, "a man with an intimidating presence who keeps the local kids on edge. He lost his son to the competition and is hellbent on putting an end to the game for good." And finally, Alves is set as Bishop: "Messy and kind of cute with a big heart, he is the best friend of Heather (Olivia Welch). Bishop has more of a chance than anyone to escape Carp but appreciates where he's at in life at the moment - especially now that he's done with high school forever." (Deadline.com)
QUINTA & JERMAINE (CBS, New!) - Quinta Brunson and Jermaine Fowler are attached to star in a potential multi-camera comedy for the network about "childhood best friends who find themselves expecting a child while navigating adulthood." The project, which has a pilot production commitment, will be written by said duo and Larry Wilmore. 3 Arts Entertainment's Michael Rotenberg and Josh Lieberman will likewise executive produce for ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios. SNOWPIERCER (TNT) - Aaron Glenane and Fiona Vroom are both bound for the ensemble as The Last Australian, "a scrappy tailie charmer from Perth with an intense desire to survive because as far as he knows, he is the Last Australian"; and Miss Gillies, "an encouraging and well-rounded school teacher who is responsible for educating Snowpiercer's next generation," respectively. SQUEEZE, THE (CBS, New!) - Dana Klein ("9JKL") is back in business with the Eye for a new multi-camera comedy which "centers on a married couple that struggles to take care of both dependent children and dependent parents." The CBS TV Studios-based project has a put pilot commitment with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor, TrillTV's Wendi Trilling as well as Big Talk's Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice also on board to executive produce. UNTITLED VAUN WILMOTT PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Vaun Wilmott has set up a new drama at the network about FBI Director Dole Green, "who is framed for a brazen, well-orchestrated attack at the agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. A treasure trove of classified data and agents identities is stolen in one of the worst attacks on national security in US history. With his career in shambles, Dole must fight to protect his family and get his life back through any means necessary." Todd Harthan will also executive produce the 20th Century Fox TV-based project, which has a penalty attached. (Deadline.com)
