BLINDSPOT (NBC) - Bill Nye the Science Guy will appear as himself in an upcoming episode, "who also happens to be Patterson's (Ashley Johnson) father." (TVLine.com)
CASTLE ROCK (Hulu) - Chosen Jacobs will recur on the upcoming J.J. Abrams/Stephen King-produced series as Wendell Deaver, "the son of Henry Deaver (Andre Holland)." (Deadline.com)
END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT, THE (The CW) - Josh Helman has booked a lead role in the high concept drama pilot, in which when a prison spaceship carrying the universe's most deadly aliens crashes in Southern California, two young women (Gage Golightly, Quinta Brunson) with bigger dreams than working at a kids' pizza place in The Valley are recruited by a space cop to hunt down the escaped criminals, who have camouflaged themselves as eccentric Angelenos. He'll play Quinn, "a rugged space-cop from another galaxy. Quinn has hunted down the worst alien criminals in the universe. But now that he has crash-landed on Earth, he might actually need a little help ordering an Uber." Additionally, Glen Winter is set to direct. (Deadline.com)
FBI (CBS) - Zeeko Zaki has booked the male lead on the drama pilot, about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He'll play Otilio Abraham "OA" Casillas:" An FBI Special Agent in NYC, OA made it from Bushwick to West Point, and has both the confidence - and the will - of someone who's had to fight every step of the way. After spending two years undercover, the DEA abruptly ripped him out, and he was cherry-picked by the FBI." (Deadline.com)
FOR LOVE (ABC) - Luke Arnold is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about an epic love triangle set against a grounded, secret world of magic in present day New Orleans. He'll play Christof Dumaine, "the younger brother, intent on fulfilling his duties as chaos-maker and havoc-wreaker." (Deadline.com)
FOR THE PEOPLE/SCANDAL (ABC) - Zahir McGhee, co-executive producer on both series, has signed a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios. Said pact gives the company exclusive rights to McGhee's output over the next two seasons. (Deadline.com)
GOOD FIGHT, THE (CBSAA) - Bebe Neuwirth will drop by the show's second season as the Hon. Claudia Friend, one of the series' latest judges. (EW.com)
MAN OF THE HOUSE (ABC) - The Alphabet has given a late pilot order to the multi-camera hybrid comedy, about a teenage star quarterback who finds himself unexpectedly the only male in a house full of females when his recently-divorced mother moves in with her recently-divorced sister and their daughters. Said decision is the result of casting Alyson Hannigan as Jessie, "a caring social worker who was shocked when her husband left her. With nowhere else to turn, and against her better judgment, she moves her teenage football-star son and preteen daughter into the home of her narcissistic, ball-busting sister Charli and her even more wicked daughter." Additionally, Vijal Patel is now co-writing the script alongside Frank Pines with Gail Berman, Joe Earley and Kerry Washington also executive producing for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
MANIFEST (NBC) - Athena Karkanis and Parveen Kaur are both bound for the high-concept drama, in which a plane disappears from radar and returns five years later after being untraceable and presumed lost at sea. Karkanis will play Grace Stone: "After years of mourning the loss of her husband, Ben (Josh Dallas), and son, Grace now is reunited with her lost family. With the miracle of their return, she's ready to embrace the new normal - if that's even possible." Kaur then will portray Saanvi Bahl: "A brilliant graduate student and medical researcher, Saanvi returns home after being missing for years, to learn that her work has led to startling medical breakthroughs." RED LINE (CBS) - Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton and Aliyah Royale have all snagged roles on the drama pilot, which explores what happens after a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor. Fisher will play Pete Evans, "a Chicago cop who shot an African-American doctor in a convenience store. Confused and sickened by his own actions, Pete also is concerned with the subsequent public and legal fallout." Thornton then is Jim Evans, "a former police officer who uses a wheelchair after he was shot in the line of duty. He is prone to violence and rattled by the charges pending against his brother, Pete." And finally, Royale is set as Jira Calder-Brennan, the 16-year-old daughter of the aforementioned black doctor, Richard Brennan (yet to be cast). (Deadline.com)
SALVAGE (ABC) - Jim Belushi has signed onto the drama pilot as Duke Daniels, "Gwen's (Charity Wakefield) daddy, the fun, larger-than-life Hemingway-esque patriarch of this whole town, and a man not to be messed with. Here in Bel Grove, you either work for the Daniels, or you are one. Owner of the town's only factory, Duke makes sure things always work to his advantage." (Deadline.com)
SKINNY DIP (The CW) - Ben Aldridge ("Reign") is back in business with the netlet as part of the drama pilot, in which after her husband tries to kill her on what she thought was a romantic cruise to celebrate their second wedding anniversary, a woman teams with a jaded ex-cop (Matt Barr) to exact her own twisted brand of revenge on her cheating spouse, and winds up uncovering a wider conspiracy in the process. He'll play Chaz Perrone, "a real jerk, an "environmentalist" who drives a bright yellow Hummer and is having an affair with a sexy hairdresser. Celebrating his anniversary with his wife aboard a cruise ship, he invites Joey to come up on deck on a rainy night as a romantic gesture. However, he has other plans and promptly throws her overboard." (Deadline.com)
SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS (A.K.A. WIDOW) (Facebook) - Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) has joined the cast of the Elizabeth Olsen-led series, "a dark comedy that explores the life of young widow Leigh Gibbs (Olsen) as she deals with the grief of losing her husband while reconnecting with relationships of her past." She'll play Jules, Leigh's younger sister, "described as the most fun girl at a party, and the hardest to live with. In the face of her brother-in-law's death, Jules is not only fighting day-by-day to maintain her sobriety, but also struggling to evolve out of the role of the well-meaning disaster in her family." SPENCER (The CW) - Samantha Logan has signed onto the Taye Diggs-led drama pilot as Olivia Baker, "Jordan's younger sister who befriends Spencer due to their shared experience of feeling like outsiders at the elitist high school." (Deadline.com)
STRANGE ANGEL (CBSAA) - Newcomer Laine Neil is set to recur on the upcoming drama as Patty, "Susan's (Bella Heathcote) half-sister, a firebrand whose spirit apparently hasn't yet been broken by her domineering father Calvin." (Deadline.com)
WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD (A.K.A. HERE COMES THE NEIGHBORHOOD) (CBS) - Sheaun McKinney ("Vice Principals") and Marcel Spears ("The Mayor") are both the first to be cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. McKinney will play Malcolm, "the chill and dryly sarcastic younger son of Calvin and Loretta. His older brother, Marty (Spears), is the "good" son, and Malcolm is the more street-smart member of the family." Spears's Marty "works at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an engineer, and he's considerably more friendly and welcoming than anyone else in his family." (Deadline.com)
