By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

EIGHT HUNDRED GRAPES (ABC, New!) - Writer Julia Brownell ("The Path") and director Phillip Noyce ("Revenge") have scored a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a new drama about Georgia Ford, who "returns to the family vineyard, expecting the comfort of her long-married parents and her brothers and everything familiar; but it turns out her fiancé is not the only one who's been keeping secrets." Temple Hill Entertainment's Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television with Albert Page as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
LONG WALK, THE (FOX, New!) - Morris Chestnut ("Rosewood") is attached to star in a potential drama at the network based on the upcoming novel "The Bomb Maker" by Thomas Perry. Carol Mendelsohn will pen the Sony Pictures Television-based hour, which has a put pilot commitment. Chestnut would play Dick Stahl, a private security expert and retired bomb tech who reluctantly returns to the L.A. Bomb Squad after a killer with a deadly vendetta sets a trap and blows up half of them. Chestnut, Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz of Carol Mendelsohn Productions, and Brian Wilkins of LINK Entertainment are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
NIGHT SHIFT, THE (NBC) - Co-creator Gabe Sachs took to Twitter with the news NBC has passed on a fifth season for the series. (@Gabestuff)
ROSARITO BEACH (CBS, New!) - Nick Weiss and Isaac Laskin have booked a new drama at the Eye about "a disgraced, loose cannon female attorney from California [who teams] with an ambitious, tightly wound Latino lawyer who is intent on building his practice in San Diego taking on cases that straddle the U.S./Mexican legal systems." Weiss, Matt Lopez, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas are executive producing for the Universal Television-based Nuyorican Productions with Laskin as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
SUPERSTORE (NBC) - Kerri Kenney has been cast as Glenn's oft-mentioned-but-yet-to-be-seen wife Jerusha on the series. She'll first turn up on episode nine this season. (TVLine.com)
UNTHINKABLE (CBS, New!) - David Slack ("MacGyver") has sold a potential drama to the Eye about "a brilliant futurist, trained to see danger around every corner, who's recruited by an uncharacteristically optimistic FBI Agent to identify the threats only she can see coming - and stop them before it's too late." The project is based on Chuck Wendig's 2016 novel "Invasive" with Bruckheimer TV's Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed as well as Tiny Riot Entertainment's Jason Egenberg also executive producing for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BOBBY BOWMAN PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Bobby Bowman ("Family Tools") is back in business with the Alphabet for a single-camera comedy which "looks at the unexpected benefits of growing up in a family with a dad who has mental illness, as Bowman's father did." Dawn Ostroff and Jon Koa of Condé Nast Entertainment as well as Greg Walter of 3 Arts Entertainment will also executive produce for ABC Studios. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED DAVID O. RUSSELL PROJECT (Amazon) - Amazon Studios has dropped The Weinstein Company-produced drama, which was set to star Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore, over the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal. Russell, De Niro and Moore subsequently confirmed they are pulling the plug on the project altogether. The streaming service has also nixed The Weinstein Company from Matthew Weiner's "The Romanoffs," currently in production, and will presumably solely foot the bill. (Deadline.com)
