FILMING STARTS ON SEASON FIVE OF CINEMAX'S "STRIKE BACK" SHOT ON LOCATION IN JORDAN AND HUNGARY WITH ALL NEW CAST

The New Season Stars Warren Brown, Daniel MacPherson, Roxanne McKee and Alin Sumarwata

LOS ANGELES, April 26, 2017 - Principal photography has begun on the ten-episode fifth season of CINEMAX'S action-packed drama series, STRIKE BACK, shot on location in Jordan and Hungary with a brand new cast portraying members of the revived Section 20. Season five features a new team facing new threats and new enemies and stars Warren Brown ("Luther," "The Dark Knight Rises") as "Mac" McAllister, Daniel MacPherson ("Infini") as Samuel Wyatt, Roxanne McKee ("Game of Thrones," "Crossfire") as Natalie Reynolds and Alin Sumarwata ("Burning Man") as Gracie Novin.

The cast of STRIKE BACK season five also includes Nina Sosanya ("David Brent: Life on the Road," "Love Actually") as Adeena Donovan, Katherine Kelly ("The Night Manager," "Happy Valley") as Jane Lowry and Trevor Eve ("Death of a Farmer," "Troy") as Morgan Ives.

Disavowed and disbanded, the Section program is restored in order to track down a notorious terrorist following a brutal prison break. Tasked with covert military intelligence and high-risk operations, the resurrected unit embarks on a lethal manhunt that will uncover a vast web of interconnected criminal activity. As the team journeys across the Middle East and Europe, they uncover a deadly conspiracy that threatens to overwhelm them all and change the face of modern warfare forever.

STRIKE BACK's confidential consultants, who work in the field of counterterrorism, will also return for the new season. Their expertise is a resource for story, terminology, procedure, accuracy, character development and regional issues, providing insight into the highly secretive world of "Black Ops." They also train the cast in battle tactics, weaponry and combat, as the lead actors do the majority of their own stunts.

"STRIKE BACK has been critical to defining CINEMAX as a destination for adrenalized, combat-based dramas with spectacular production values," notes Kary Antholis, president of CINEMAX. "This rebirth of the series will undoubtedly satisfy the show's loyal fans, and our new ensemble cast promises to attract a new generation to the show."

"We are so thrilled to be welcoming a new cast to Section 20 and the four actors are a fantastic addition to the STRIKE BACK family," says Sharon Hughff, executive producer for Left Bank Pictures. "The STRIKE BACK series is still going strong and we can't wait to see this new season on screen with the intensity and high action that fans have come to expect from the show!"

Last season, STRIKE BACK was hailed by Forbes as "one of the best shows on television." TV Guide referred to the show as "TV's most explosive action series" and the A.V. Club praised its aptitude to deliver "the thrills of an action movie blockbuster on the small screen."

This new season marks CINEMAX's fifth - and Sky's sixth - in the STRIKE BACK franchise. In 2013, Cinemax aired Sky's first season of the series as "Strike Back: Origins."

STRIKE BACK is a CINEMAX Presentation in association with Sky; a Left Bank Pictures Production. Executive Produced by Cameron Roach for Sky and Andy Harries for Left Bank Pictures along with Sharon Hughff. Also returning for season five are Director/Executive Producer Michael Bassett and Showrunner/Writer Jack Lothian, who also takes on an Executive Producer role. Pete Coogan joins as Production Executive, Bill Shephard is Series Producer and Producers are Nuala O'Leary and Lawrence Cochran.
