HISTORY(R) GREENLIGHTS NAVY SEAL TEAM SIX DRAMA SERIES "SIX" FOR A TEN EPISODE SECOND SEASON FROM A+E STUDIOS IN ASSOCIATION WITH WEINSTEIN TELEVISION

SEASON ONE RANKS AS THE #1 NEW CABLE SERIES OF 2017

Two New Episodes Remain This Season, Airing Wednesdays at 10/9c Season One Finale Airs on Wednesday, March 8

New York, NY - February 23, 2017 - HISTORY has picked up a ten episode sophomore season of the hit military combat drama series "SIX," it was announced today by Jana Bennett, President & General Manager of HISTORY. Produced by A+E Studios in association with Weinstein Television and created by father/son duo William and David Broyles, "SIX" is currently the #1 new cable series of the year in total viewers based on Live+SD viewing. Two new episodes remain in the current season airing Wednesdays at 10/9c, with the season one finale airing on Wednesday, March 8 at 10/9c.

"SIX is a captivating drama series that embraces our recent history, while being immensely relevant in the climate of today's culture," said Bennett. "It has struck a genuine chord with our audience and we're proud to continue to tell the courageous stories, both on and off the battlefield, of the complex lives of this elite military group."

Season one of "SIX" is averaging 2.9 million total viewers in Live+3 delivery over four weeks. In Live+7 delivery, the January 18 premiere attracted 3 million total viewers, 1.4 million Adults 25-54 and 1.2 million Adults 18-49. Fueled by the success of "SIX," along with the hit original series "Vikings," "The Curse of Oak Island," "Alone," "Forged in Fire" and "Swamp People," HISTORY has enjoyed two consecutive months of year over year growth and is currently on pace for its third consecutive month in February.

Season two of "SIX" is slated to begin production this summer.

The eight episode first season of "SIX" follows members of Navy SEAL Team Six, modern American warriors, whose covert mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with terrorists. Inspired by real missions, the series captures the inside world of America's elite Special Operations unit - what these SEALs do, their personal lives, combat and the life-and-death decisions they make to protect and serve their country.

"SIX" is an authentic portrayal of what it means to be a member of SEAL Team Six, a true brotherhood, the best at what they do. In the first season, former SEAL Team Six troop leader, Richard 'Rip' Taggart (Walton Goggins/ "Vice Principals"; The Hateful Eight), is captured by Boko Haram and it's up to his former SEAL Team Six brothers - led by Joe Graves (Barry Sloane/ "Revenge"), Alex Caulder (Kyle Schmid/ "Copper") and Ricky "Buddha" Ortiz (Juan Pablo Raba/ "Narcos") - to put their differences aside to locate and rescue their former troop leader.

Season one of "SIX" also stars Edwin Hodge ("Chicago Fire"), Dominic Adams ("Devious Maids"), Brianne Davis (Jarhead), Nadine Velazquez (Flight), Jaylen Moore ("Homeland"), Donny Boaz (The Great Debaters) and Nondumiso Tembe ("True Blood").

New episodes of season one of "SIX" air every Wednesday at 10/9c. Episodes are currently available on video on demand as well as HISTORY.com and on the HISTORY app.

"SIX" is created by Academy Award(R) nominee William Broyles (Cast Away; Apollo 13; Jarhead) and David Broyles, a military special operations veteran. William Broyles, Harvey and Bob Weinstein, David Glasser, Nicolas Chartier, Alfredo Barrios, Jr. ("Burn Notice"), George W. Perkins (Live from Baghdad), Bruce C. McKenna ("Band of Brothers," "The Pacific"), David Broyles, Barry Jossen and Lesli Linka Glatter are executive producers. Karen Campbell ("Dexter") serves as the supervising producer and joins Barrios, McKenna, and William and David Broyles as writers on the series. Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Mitchell Hall (Zero Dark Thirty; Lone Survivor) serves as the series' technical advisor and associate producer. CNN's national security analyst Peter Bergen serves as the series' terrorism consultant. Jana Bennett and Arturo Interian are the executives in charge of production for HISTORY. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for "SIX."

"SIX" is produced by A+E Studios in association with Weinstein Television.
