BLOODLINE (Netflix) - The streaming service has revealed the show's upcoming third season, due in May 2017, will be its last. Additionally, the episode order has been cut from 13 episodes to 10 and licensing fees on the show have been slashed. (THR.com)
CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Billy Burke ("Zoo") will guest on the new season as "a legendary retired baseball player" who "gets caught up in a murder investigation." (TVLine.com)
DEAR WHITE PEOPLE (Netflix) - Brant Daugherty ("Pretty Little Liars") is the latest to recur on the upcoming comedy series based on Justin Simien's acclaimed film. He'll play Thane Lockwood, "a corn-fed jock. The star running back on the college football team, he is not the brightest bulb in the scoreboard. A bit of an affable goof." (Deadline.com)
DECEPTION (ABC, New!) - "Chuck" co-creator Chris Fedak has scored a pilot production commitment from the Alphabet for a new drama which "centers on a superstar magician. When his career is ruined by scandal, he has only one place to turn to practice his art of deception, illusion, and influence - the FBI. He'll become the world's first consulting illusionist, helping the government solve crimes that defy explanation, and trap criminals and spies by using deception." Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour with Martin Gero as well as Berlanti Television's Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter executive producing. Magician, puzzle creator and writer/producer David Kwong will also serve as a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
DOUBT (CBS) - Co-creators Joan Rater and Tony Phelan have inked a two-year overall deal at CBS Television Studios, covering their duties on the midseason drama as well as any future development. (Deadline.com)
DREAMER (NBC, New!) - Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) has sold a potential drama to the Peacock about "a woman who discovers that her newfound gifts might be the result of a mysterious conspiracy." Universal Television-based John Glenn Entertainment is behind the hour, which has a penalty attached. Lopez and Glenn then will executive produce. (Deadline.com)
GOOD COP/BAD COP (FOX, New!) - Writer Sheldon Turner (X-Men: First Class) and director McG (Charlie's Angels) are set to team for a new drama at the network about "a meek San Francisco detective struggling with psychological trauma who conjures up an imaginary rogue partner who helps him get the job done." Said effort, which has a penalty attached, comes from 20th Century Fox Television with Wonderland Sound and Vision's Mary Viola and Vendetta Productions' Jennifer Klein also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
LOOMING TOWER, THE (Hulu, New!) - Lawrence Wright's Pulitzer Prize-winning nonfiction book - "a controversial look at how the rivalry between the CIA and FBI inadvertently might have set the stage for the tragedy of 9/11 and the war in Iraq" - is being eyed for a 10-episode straight-to-series order from the streaming service. Writer Dan Futterman (Foxcatcher) and director Alex Gibney (Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief) are behind the project, which is set up at Legendary Television. Wright will also serve as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
TWINSTERS (ABC, New!) - Juliet Seniff ("Angie Tribeca") has booked a potential single-camera comedy at the Alphabet which "tells the story of identical twins separated at birth, adopted on two different continents and raised completely unaware of each other until they are reunited at age 29." Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour, which is based on the 2015 documentary of the same name. David Caspe and Davis Entertainment's John Davis and John Fox also serve as executive producers with Seniff as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
YEAR OF LIVING BIBLICALLY, THE (CBS, New!) - Patrick Walsh ("2 Broke Girls") has sold a single-camera comedy to the Eye based on A.J. Jacobs's bestselling book about "a modern-day man at a crossroads in his life who decides to live according to the Bible." Warner Bros. Television-based Alcide Bava Productions is behind the half-hour with Johnny Galecki, Spencer Medof and Andrew Haas also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
