IFC'S "DOCUMENTARY NOW!" MAKES SENSE WITH MAYA RUDOLPH

Actress Joins Fred Armisen and Bill Hader in a Music-Centered Episode "Test Pattern"

Season 2 of the Hit Series Returns in September with Seven All-New Episodes

NEW YORK, NY - June 23, 2016 - IFC announced today that actress and comedian Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live, Bridesmaids, Maya and Marty) will co-star in a music-centric episode of Documentary Now! Season 2. In "Test Pattern," Rudolph joins series' regulars Fred Armisen and Bill Hader on the stage as they perform one of the greatest concerts that never really happened.

Inspired by the groundbreaking 1984 Talking Heads concert documentary "Stop Making Sense," "Test Pattern" features an eponymous hit band (Armisen, Hader and Rudolph) performing a riveting, high-energy final concert to an eager audience of fans. The innovative episode includes a musically-diverse set list of songs written by Armisen himself. Outside of the concert, the episode will delve deep into the musicians' interwoven backstories and reveal the inspirations behind their '80s classics such as "Free David Ness" and "Indeng Indeng."

"Test Pattern" joins the four previously announced titles, "The Bunker," "Globesmen," "Juan Likes Rice and Chicken," and the two-part "Mr. Runner Up," all premiering on IFC this fall. Details on the remaining episode will be announced at a later date.

Debuting last summer to strong critical acclaim, Documentary Now! quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its insightful comedic take on the most well-known documentary films. Each episode, delightfully hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, starred Armisen and Hader lovingly paying homage to a specific documentary and sharing a captivating (if completely untrue) story inspired by these timeless films. Guest stars last year included Jack Black, Aidy Bryant, Mike O'Brien, Tim Robinson and John Slattery.

Documentary Now! is created and executive produced by Armisen, Hader, Seth Meyers, and SNL's Rhys Thomas, who serves as the show's director alongside Alex Buono. Produced by Broadway Video, the show is also executive produced by Buono, Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video's Andrew Singer. John Mulaney (Mulaney, SNL) serves as co-executive producer and Erik Kenward (SNL) is consulting producer.

Catch up on the entire first season of Documentary Now!, available now on Netflix and iTunes. Season 2 premieres with seven new episodes this fall on IFC.
