GREENLEAF (OWN/Lionsgate; W: Craig Wright; D: TBA) - Lamman Rucker, Kim Hawthorne and Deborah Joy Winans are the latest additions to the upcoming drama, which takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Rucker will play Jacob Greenleaf, "the eldest, ne'er-do-well son of the Bishop (Keith David), heir apparent to the Greenleaf empire"; with Hawthorne as Kerissa Greenleaf, "Jacob's ambitious, controlling wife"; and Winans as Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee, "youngest daughter of the Bishop and also the church's angel-voiced Minister of Music." Tye White, Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge and Desiree Ross also star. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED JULIA BROWNELL PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Julia Brownell ("About a Boy") is developing a new drama at the Peacock about "a funeral home business with a dynamic mother/daughter duo at the helm who approach funeral services as positive celebrations of life, not death - complete with song and dance." Said effort, which is inspired by the real-life Boyd Funeral Home in Los Angeles, comes from Universal Television with Diane Nabatoff; Storyline Entertainment's Craig Zadan and Neil Meron; and True Jack Productions' Jason Katims and Michelle Lee executive producing. Brownell will co-executive produce with Mark Nicholson and Tasha Brown serving as producers. (Deadline.com)

URBAN COWBOY (FOX/20th/Paramount; W/D: Craig Brewer) - Edward James Olmos ("Marvel's Agents of SHIELD") has joined the cast of the network's modern reimagining of the 1980 movie, about star-crossed young lovers Kyle (Alfonso Herrera) and Gaby as they pursue their dreams and passions through the sweat of line dancing in honky tonks, the grime of the oil refineries and the glamour of modern Texas. He'll play Alfonso "Al" Robles, "a former hitman for the Mexican cartel who came to Texas 20 years ago to reinvent himself." Bryana Salaz and Jim Belushi also star. (TVLine.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Hank Azaria has been cast as Frank Dipascali in "The Wizard of Lies," HBO's Robert De Niro-led Bernie Madoff docudrama (Deadline.com); Bruce Campbell and 5x5 Media are developing "Bruce Campbell's Horrified," "a horror-themed, off-beat comedic competition series project" (Deadline.com); and Tovah Feldshuh (Deanna Monroe), Alexandra Breckenridge (Jessie Anderson) and Austin Nichols (Spencer Monroe) have been promoted to series regulars on "The Walking Dead" (THR.com).
