CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Yaya DaCosta (Lifetime's "Whitney Houston") has been cast in the show's latest proposed spin-off, an ensemble medical drama entitled "Chicago Med." She'll play Maggie Seaver (formerly Emily Sexton), "an attractive nurse who begins to date Chicago Fire's Kelly (Taylor Kinney), with whom she has a history dating back to high school." Her character will be introduced in Episode 19 of "Chicago Fire" this season, which will serve as its backdoor pilot. (Deadline.com)


COOPER BARRETT'S GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE (FOX/20th; W: Jay Lacopo; D: TBA) - Meaghan Rath ("Being Human") has boarded the pilot, a single camera comedy that celebrates the mistakes and misadventures we all make during the years after college, before settling down. She'll play Kelly Bishop, "a beautiful physical therapist who lives across the hall from Cooper." (Deadline.com)


CURSE OF THE FUENTES WOMEN, THE (NBC/WBT; W: Silvio Horta; D: TBA) - Adan Canto ("Mixology") has been cast in the drama pilot, about when a magical and mysterious young man inexplicably emerges from the ocean, he breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women - the beautiful but lonely Lola, her ailing mother Esperanza and her troubled daughter Soledad. He'll play said mysterious stranger, Salvador, in the project. (Deadline.com)


FRANKENSTEIN (FOX/20th; W: Rand Ravich; D: Michael Cuesta) - Adhir Kalyan ("Rules of Engagement") is the first to board the drama pilot, about Ray Pritchard, a morally corrupt retired cop, who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. He's set as one of Ray's creators, "the quiet and brilliant Internet billionaire Otto Goodwin. Otto and his bioengineer twin sister Mary take on the ultimate challenge of reanimating a dead man." (Deadline.com)


INCURABLE (HBO, New!) - Writer Will Strouse and director Alan Poul are developing a new drama at the pay channel about "a support group for people with supernatural problems." Poul will direct and executive produce the potential hour from a script by co-executive producer Strouse. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)


LIVING ON VIDEO (HBO; W: Bob Stevenson & Rich Wilkes; D: David Fincher) - Tyler Ross ("The Killing") and Sam Page ("House of Cards") have been tapped for the principal roles on the comedy pilot, about the players of the then-exploding music video industry in 1983 Los Angeles. Ross will play Robby, "a wide-eyed guy who drops out of college and drives to Hollywood with dreams of directing a sci-fi epic and lands a job as a PA for a company making music videos." Page then is set as "a meteorologist trying to transition into game-show hosting." Jason Flemyng, Kerry Condon and Elizabeth Lail are also on track to star. (Deadline.com)


LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD (NBC/20th; W: Diana Son; D: TBA) - Brian Tee (The Wolverine) is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, in which race, sexuality and gender roles collide when three diverse couples put modern marriage to the test. He'll play Adam, "half of one of the three couples, a big, handsome man who is currently dating Sarah, a fellow attorney who shares his taste for sexual adventure, including three-ways with beautiful women." QUANTICO (ABC/ABCS; W: Josh Safran; D: TBA) - Tate Ellington ("The Mindy Project") has snagged a lead role on the drama pilot, about a group of diverse FBI recruits going through 21 weeks of training to become special agents at the FBI's academy in Quantico, Virginia - one of which is a sleeper terrorist, who in the near future, has perpetrated the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since Sept. 11. He'll play one of the trainees, Simon, "a hipster cute gay Jewish guy from Brooklyn, a former CPA with a knack for foreign languages." (Deadline.com)


VICE PRINCIPALS (HBO; W: Danny McBride & Jody Hill; D: TBA) - Walton Goggins and Shea Whigham are the latest to be cast in the upcoming Danny McBride-led comedy, which tells the story of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals. The former will play Lee Russell, "a conniving politician who enters into an unholy alliance with Gamby (McBride)." Whigham then is set as Ray Liptrapp, "the new husband of Gamby's ex (Busy Phillips), and frequent target of his hostility, despite being a genuine and supportive guy." Da'vine Joy Randolph, Georgia King and Sheaun McKinney also star. (Deadline.com)
