RAIL AGAINST THE HARSH ALASKAN WILDERNESS ABOARD SEASON 2 OF DESTINATION AMERICA'S "RAILROAD ALASKA"

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Stretching over 500 miles of wilderness, cutting through dense forest and plowing into thick snow, lies the Alaskan Railroad. This October, Destination America makes a return trip through the Last Frontier with a second season of RAILROAD ALASKA, chronicling everyday challenges faced by isolated homesteaders living along Alaska's critical railway. The series follows an elite crew who tirelessly work to keep the train rolling 365 days a year in order to deliver life-sustaining supplies to Americans living off the grid and miles away from civilization. With dedication, tenacity and a bit of grit, these Alaskans have truly mastered the splendor of living life on the track. Season two of RAILROAD ALASKA premieres Saturday, October 25 at 10/9c on Destination America.

"Living in the wild is some American's dream and those who choose this lifestyle take advantage of the beauty, power and romance that Alaska has to offer, especially the majestic Alaskan Railroad," said Marc Etkind, general manager of Destination America. "In RAILROAD ALASKA, viewers will come to realize that nothing beats the sights and sounds of a 70 ton locomotive emerging from a treacherous snow covered mountain pass."

With unbearable weather conditions and dangerous wild animals, flagging down the passenger train is no easy task but when it is the only option for gathering food and fuel, these Alaskans are brave and willing. Homesteaders featured in RAILROAD ALASKA do whatever it takes to survive including Jim who made his own prosthetic hand out of hinges from an old recliner and a metal hook, Ron who has physically fought two bears nose to nose and Cathy who drove herself to the rail on her four-wheeler mid labor. However, their resourcefulness wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated crew members: George who has been working on the rail for over 45 years, Wanda who forged her way into a man's world and Bill who is following in the footsteps of family members and is a third generation railroader.

Premiere Episode Description:

Bear Attack Premieres Saturday, October 25 at 10/9c

· Racing the clock, George, Wanda and Bill struggle against delays to deliver a crucial load of unusual freight to a salvage crew waiting in the wilderness. Then, homesteader Jim James braves a trip to town for the first time in 6 months returning with vital supplies and a huge surprise for his wife Nancy. In Alaska's Northern wilderness, off gridder Ron Hudson and his daughter Ashley are forced to take action to protect his cabin from a bear attack.

RAILROAD ALASKA is produced by Windfall Films with Carlo Massarella and David Dugan as executive producers and Craig Blackhurst as series producer.
