BRAIN DEAD (CBS, New!) - Robert and Michelle King ("The Good Wife") are scored a put pilot commitment from the Eye for a new drama billed as "a comedic horror hourlong show set in the world of D.C. politics." They'll write and executive produce via their CBS Television Studios-based King Size Productions banner, home to their new three-year overall deal, alongside Scott Free's Ridley Scott and David Zucker. ELISABETH (HBO, New!) - Ruba Nadda (Cairo Time) is developing a new drama at the pay channel set in the world of international politics. She'll write, direct and executive produce the hour alongside Alan Poul and Patricia Clarkson, the latter of which is attached to star. No other specifics were given. (Deadline.com)


IF THERE BE THORNS (Lifetime, New!) - The cable channel has greenlit its adaptation of V.C. Andrews's third book in "Flowers in the Attic" series, which follows "Christopher (Jason Lewis) and Cathy Dollanganger (Rachael Carpani) as they live together as man and wife in California with Cathy's two sons, who are unaware of the nature of their parents' relationship." Mason Cook will play Cathy's son Bart in the project, which Nancy Savoca will direct from a script by Andrew Cochran and Darren Stein. A+E Studios is producing in association with Front Street Pictures while Dan Angel and Jane Startz will executive produce. (Deadline.com)


MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, THE (Amazon; W: Frank Spotnitz; D: David Semel) - Cary Tagawa has snagged a role on the drama pilot, based on Philip K. Dick's Hugo Award-winning novel - about an alternate history in which the Axis Powers occupy the United States, where fascism rules and the few surviving Jews hide under assumed names. He's set as Tagomi, "the head of Japan's Trade Mission to San Francisco who really is a spy and works with Nazi double agent Rudolph Wegener to collect valuable intelligence on the Third Reich's every move." Luke Kleintank also stars. (Deadline.com)


POINT OF HONOR (Amazon/ABC Signature; W: Carlton Cuse; D: Randall Wallace) - Chris O'Shea and James Harvey Ward have both joined the cast of the drama pilot, about a fictional family from Lynchburg, VA who find their lives and family fractured by the commencement of the Civil War. The former will play Robert Sumner, "a lieutenant in the Union army and husband of Virginian Lorelei Rhodes"; with the latter as Cutler, "the cruel, heartless overseer of the slaves working in the Rhodes' fields." Riley Voelkel and Patrick Heusinger also star. (Deadline.com)


STANISTAN (USA/UCP; W: Andy Parker; D: TBA) - Jennifer Carpenter ("Dexter") has booked a lead role on the drama pilot, which follows the staff at the American compound in the Middle Eastern country of Stanistan, where State Department workers, covert CIA officers and journalists operate in a delicate balance of danger and silliness using every coping mechanism available. She'll play Public Affairs Officer Marcie Post, "daughter of a well-respected diplomat and the newly appointed spin-master for all U.S. government activity in the country." (Deadline.com)


WEIGHT FOR LOVE (NBC, New!) - The Peacock has given a cast-contingent series order to a new reality project in which "overweight couples who commit to separate for a long period of time in order to regain their health, then reunite in an emotional reveal." Warner Horizon Television and 5�5 Media and co-producing. (Deadline.com)
