NEW YORK, September 23, 2013 -- COMEDY CENTRAL received five awards in the 2012-2013 Primetime Emmy(R) Awards competition, as awarded by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS).

"The Colbert Report" received its first Primetime Emmy win in the "Outstanding Variety Series" category. The hit series also won in the "Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series" category. "The Colbert Report" has already garnered two prior Emmy wins in the writing category and has been nominated in the show, writing and directing categories for eight consecutive years, bringing its total number of nominations to 34. The show has also twice been honored with the prestigious Peabody(R) Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.

"South Park" wins again in the "Outstanding Animated Program" category for the "Raising the Bar" episode. The hit animated show has already received four Emmys in this category and has won the prestigious Peabody(R) Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.

Multiple Emmy-winner "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," the network's unique news parody, won an Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for Short-Form Segments and Variety Specials, Einar Westerlund, Editor. This brings the grand total of Primetime Emmys for "The Daily Show" to 19. The program is also a two-time winner of the prestigious Peabody(R) Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.

COMEDY CENTRAL also received a win in the Outstanding Interactive Program category for "Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs" on comedycentral.com. The brand has now garnered two Emmys and seven nominations for its multi-platform content.

The Emmy Awards were presented in two ceremonies. The first, primarily for creative arts categories, took place on Sunday, September 15, while the balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts, and were announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime telecast (CBS) on Sunday, September 22. Both ceremonies took place at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, CA.
