By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE (Showtime, New!) - Matthew Specktor's novel - about a talent agent and his troubled sons in 1970s Hollywood - is being developed as a drama at the pay channel. Michael C. Hall ("Dexter") is on board to executive produce the potential hour with Scott Buck supervising Specktor, who will pen the script. It's understood Hall may be featured in a small role should the project move forward to pilot. (THR.com)

TOGETHERNESS (HBO; W/D: Jay Duplass & Mark Duplass) - Mark Duplass ("The League") is set to topline his single-camera comedy pilot for the pay channel, about two couples living under the same roof who struggle to keep their relationships alive while pursuing their individual dreams. He'll play Brett, who "is successful in business, and on the surface, his peculiar brand of enthusiasm has gotten him a picture-perfect life: a sweet wife, a solid job, two healthy kids." Said role won't interfere with his duties on the FX comedy. Melanie Lynskey also stars as his wife Michelle with Amanda Peet as her sister Tina Morris, who relocates from Houston to Los Angeles; and Steve Zissis as Brett's friend Alex Pappas, a struggling, over-the-hill actor. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED BOSTON WOMEN PROJECT (A&E) - The cable channel has given the Mark Wahlberg-produced reality series a six-episode order. The untitled project, set in Wahlberg's hometown of Boston, follows "the intertwining lives of an unlikely quartet of friends, all from different working-class families." Bill Thompson of Bill Thompson Productions, Stephanie Drachkovitch of 44 Blue Productions and Stephen Levinson of Leverage Management are executive producing alongside Wahlberg and his Closest to the Hole Productions. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Criminal Minds" co-stars Thomas Gibson and Joe Mantegna are reportedly close to signing deals to return for a ninth season while Shemar Moore, Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook remain in talks with producer ABC Studios and CBS (Deadline.com); Steve Carell - despite suggestions otherwise - will make a cameo as Michael Scott on the series finale of "The Office" (TVLine.com); and Beatrice Springborn have been tapped as the head of television for Craig Zadan and Neil Meron's Storyline Entertainment (Deadline.com).
