OPRAH WINFREY AND PASTOR RICK WARREN DISCUSS LIVING "A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE" ON "OPRAH'S LIFECLASS" SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24

Los Angeles - Oprah Winfrey and Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, discuss the fundamental concepts explored in his best-selling book in an all-new episode of "Oprah's Lifeclass," the popular series where Winfrey engages with thought-leaders in inspiring conversations about principles that guide our lives. The episode airs this Sunday, February 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

In part two of Winfrey's conversation with Warren, the two help viewers answer life's biggest questions: 'What on earth am I here for?' and 'What is my purpose?' They talk about the three levels of existence: survival, success and significance, and how to start living your life with more purpose. Plus, an update from a former guest on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" who survived being held hostage in 2005 by the Atlanta Spree Killer after reading The Purpose Driven Life.

EXCERPT: Winfrey and Pastor Warren discuss living in "survival level," the first of three levels people live in:

Winfrey: Pastor Rick believes that everybody lives at one of three levels in life. Okay? Survival--

Warren: Survival, success, or significance. And we're gonna talk about those tonight.

Winfrey: And only when you reach the highest level-- that is significance-- are you living your life with purpose. So, first of all, define each of the levels.

Warren: Well, survival is pretty self-explanatory. America's filled with people living at survival level emotionally. And at survival level emotionally you're just putting in your time. You're just checking the time card. You're waiting for the weekend and you're dreaming of going on vacation or retiring. If you're--

Winfrey: I see some heads nodding out there. Anybody out there-- you know what we're talking about-- in survival mode, right? You just--

Warren: If you're always just getting by and emotionally you just feel like, "I'm tired and I'm sick. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." Then you're at survival level. And if you're only goal is to simply get through the weekend, then you have a whole lot more in store for your life than that.

EXCERPT: Winfrey and Pastor Warren discuss the different factors that drive our lives:

Warren: Now, I don't call it "The Purpose Driven Life" by accident. If you look up the word "drive" in a dictionary, "to drive" means "to guide, control, or direct". Guide, control or direct. Everybody's life, Oprah, is driven by something. And this is the difference between success and significance. There are a lot of successful people whose lives are driven by guilt. There are a lot of successful people who are driven by the approval of others.

Winfrey: Yeah.

Warren: If you live for the approval of others, you will die by their rejection.

Winfrey: Oh, that's good.

Warren: So some people are driven by guilt, some people are driven by fear, some people are driven by resentment, some people are driven by insecurity. Some people are driven by the past: "I've always been this way!" So they can't see themselves in a new way. Some people are driven by their parents, and maybe their parents have even died, but they're still hearing that voice in their mind, "You'll never amount to anything."
