A&E'S ORIGINAL MONDAY NIGHT NON-FICTION SERIES RETURN FOR ALL-NEW SEASONS ON JANUARY 2, 2012

EMMY-NOMINATED 'HOARDERS' RETURNS FOR SEASON 5 AT 9PM ET/PT

EMMY-WINNING 'INTERVENTION' DEBUTS SEASON 12 AT 10PM ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY, DECEMBER 21, 2011 - A&E's 2011 Emmy-nominated series for Outstanding Reality Program "Hoarders" and Emmy-Award winning "Intervention" return for all-new seasons with back-to-back premieres on Monday January 2 at 9PM ET/PT and 10PM ET/PT.

The fifth season of "Hoarders" features some of the series most dramatic moments and emotional transformations to date. One man's hoard is so out of control that officials have called in the Fire Marshall because his home presents a fire hazard to the neighborhood. The grief of losing her husband led one woman to fill her home with a bizarre collection of dead animals including possums, birds and field mice. An ex-marine faces losing his home unless he comes to terms with his extreme hoarding.

"Hoarders" not only captures the drama as experts work to put each hoarder on the road to recovery but also highlights the individual's inner challenges and triumphs. Although cleaning marks the first step of tackling this disorder, success is not definite. For some individuals, throwing away the tiniest object is so traumatizing that they will not be able to allow the cleaning process to go on, no matter how it may impact their future. For others, professional help and an organizer's instruction give them the strength to let go. At the end of each episode we'll find out who has been able to keep their hoarding behavior under control and who has fallen into the deep end of this painful disease.

Stories in the twelfth season of "Intervention" include: a beautiful young mother whose meth addiction has caused her to hear voices; a spirited young woman whose drinking was so extreme her boyfriend locked her up in their mansion for three days to detox her from alcohol; a talented rapper on the verge of fame and wealth who descends into a PCP spiral; and a young actor and model whose addiction to a powerful new drug known as, "bath salts," has him fighting his delusions and hallucinations on the roof of his home with handmade weapons.

Twice nominated and in 2009 awarded the Emmy(R) for Outstanding Reality Series, the five-time PRISM Award-winning series

"Intervention" profiles people whose dependence on drugs and alcohol or other compulsive behavior has brought them to a point of personal crisis or estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each episode ends with a surprise intervention that is staged by the family and friends of the addict, and which is conducted by one of four specialists: Jeff Van Vonderen, Candy Finnigan, Donna Chavous and Rod Espudo.

The series has conducted 214 interventions since its premiere in March of 2005, 162 individuals are currently sober.

"Hoarders" is produced for A&E by Screaming Flea Productions. Executive producers are Matt Chan, Dave Severson and Jodi Flynn. Co-executive producer is George Butts. Executive producers for A&E are Jessica Morgan, David McKillop and Elaine Frontain Bryant.

"Intervention" is produced by GRB Entertainment for A&E Network. Gary R. Benz, Michael Branton and Dan Partland are executive producers. Sam Mettler is executive consultant. A&E executive producers are David McKillop and Elaine Frontain Bryant.
