By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX) - Shelby Young has scored a role on the much-ballyhooed drama pilot, about "a husband and wife (Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton) who move their family from Boston to a haunted San Francisco home in an attempt to rebuild their family after a miscarriage and affair." She'll play Leah, a pretty senior and leader of the mean girls who torments their daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga), a potentially recurring role. Frances Conroy, Alexandra Breckenridge, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange and Denis O'Hare co-star in the project, from co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

GIRL FIGHT (Lifetime, New!) - "Men in Trees" alums Anne Heche and James Tupper have joined the cast of the upcoming telefilm, which recounts the harrowing true story of 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay, a stellar Florida high school student whose life spirals downward when her former friends upload onto the Internet a shocking video of them beating her up. They'll play Victoria's parents in the project, which comes from executive producers David Craig, Linda Berman and Rocky Lang. Benita Garvin and Teena Booth co-wrote the script.

PARADE'S END (HBO, New!) - Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall are set to star in a new five-part mini-series at the pay channel set during World War I about "a complex and destructive love triangle among a conservative English aristocrat (Cumberbatch), his beautiful but cruel socialite wife (Hall), and a vibrant young suffragette." Tom Stoppard penned the project, a co-production with the BBC based on Ford Madox Ford's series of four books published from 1924-28. Susanna White ("Generation Kill") is on board to direct with Michele Buck and Damien Timmer executive producing and Selwyn Roberts and David Parfit producing. Production is set to begin this fall.
