USA NETWORK PRESENTS A CHARACTERS UNITE FILM "THE SPACE BETWEEN" TO COMMEMORATE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11

Oscar and Golden Globe-Nominated Actress Melissa Leo Stars in a Film about Tolerance and Acceptance; Part of USA Network's Characters Unite Campaign to Combat Discrimination

New York, NY - January 13, 2011 - To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks, USA will premiere the original film THE SPACE BETWEEN on September 11, 2011, it was announced today by Jane Blaney, executive vice president, programming, acquisitions & scheduling. From Inception Media Group, the film was produced, written and directed by Travis Fine ("The Others") and stars Oscar and Golden Globe nominated actress Melissa Leo ("The Fighter," "Frozen River").

"After screening the film during the Tribeca Film Festival, we knew that its home had to be USA," said Blaney. "Its message of tolerance and respect is a perfect fit with our Characters Unite pro-social initiative."

"Travis has made a beautiful, moving film and his exceptional cast has delivered performances that are powerful, touching and memorable," said Andy Reimer, partner at Inception Media Group. "We're thrilled that USA and the Characters Unite initiative have given this special film such a great opportunity to be seen and appreciated by a bigger audience." Fine continued, "I'm honored that USA will be airing THE SPACE BETWEEN on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I know that day will be a time for worldwide reflection and remembrance of the tragedy and heroism that is still so vividly etched in our memory."

The film will offer viewers a look back at the events through a different but important lens and serve as a reminder that, in the aftermath of the attacks, there was a sense of hope found not only in the comfort of loved ones, but also in the very powerful connections that so many found with complete strangers.

In THE SPACE BETWEEN, Montine McLeod (Leo), a lonely flight attendant, and Omar Hassan (Anthony Keyvan, "Lost," "iCarly"), a 10-year-old Pakistani-American boy, are on a plane that is grounded in Longview, TX the morning of 9/11/01. When Montine discovers that Omar's father works in the World Trade Center she is forced to drive the boy back home to his uncertain future in New York. As they journey across America's vast heartland in the hours and days immediately following the terrorist attacks, Montine and Omar help each other discover the importance of tolerance, redemption, acceptance and hope.

THE SPACE BETWEEN is executive produced by Lynette Howell. Fine wrote and directed the film and also produces along with his wife, Kristine Fine. Reimer produced for Inception Media Group.
