By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

CHAOS (CBS) - The Eye is reportedly in talks to order the drama for midseason. At issue: the number of episodes. CBS is apparently offering eight episodes while producer 20th Century Fox Television is demanding 13, a number which will allow them to distribute the show internationally. Freddy Rodriguez toplines the project, about a group of rogue CIA operatives. Carmen Ejogo, Eric Close, James Murray, Stephen Rea and Tim Blake Nelson also star in the hour, which Brett Ratner directed from a script by Tom Spezialy.

DEXTER (Showtime) - Julia Stiles is understood to be in talks to recur on the show's upcoming fifth season. She would play an unspecified role, details of which are being kept under wraps. "Dexter" has a tradition of season long arcs featuring high profile special guest stars, including John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits.

DRIVEN (USA) - Comedian Ron White is set to star in potential comedy at the cable channel about "an out-of-work Austin, Texas, resident who launches a limo business." Said sale marks a rare half-hour commitment by the network, which is generally focused on hour-long character dramas. Linda Bloodworth-Thomason ("Designing Women") penned the project and is executive producing alongside Harry Thomason for Universal Cable Productions.

TILDA (HBO) - Diane Keaton and Ellen Page are both set to star in the comedy pilot, about "a powerful female online Hollywood journalist with a no-holds-barred style." Keaton would play the title character with Page as Caroyln, "a morally conflicted creative assistant caught between following the corporate culture of the studio she works for and following Tilda, who has taken a keen interest in her." Bill Condon and Cynthia Mort co-wrote the half-hour, the former of which is directing. Both Keaton and Page had previously been attached to other projects at the pay channel, an untitled effort and "Stitch 'N' Bitch," respectively.
