DR. DREW'S NEWEST PATIENT "WARREN THE APE" BRINGS DEBAUCHEROUS HILARITY TO MTV

New Original Comedy Series Premieres June 14 at 10:30pm ET/PT

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 5, 2010) - New original comedies will dominate Monday nights this summer on MTV with the premiere of "Warren the Ape" on June 14 at 10:30pm ET/PT, immediately following the "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" at 10pm ET/PT. The 12 episode series is a parody of 'the life of a celebrity' reality show, based on a D-grade celebrity puppet, Warren the Ape Demontague. Warren the Ape's character is a brash, cantankerous, out-of-work actor attempting to clean up his act, patch up his relationships and scramble his way back into the Hollywood limelight with the help of his doctor, Dr. Drew Pinsky.

"From what I've seen of my show, I'm afraid it casts me in a negative light," said Warren the Ape. "I'm excited to be back on television, but why must a first rate actor be relegated to a second rate cable network?"

"I wish I could say that Warren is a delight to work with, but I can't," said Brent Haynes, senior vice president of comedy and animation for MTV. "He has an ego larger than the endangered Hollywood sign, is often inappropriate and never returns my calls. And he drinks. A lot. Unfortunately this all makes for good television."

Warren attempts to follow Dr. Drew's advice, but he always seems to spin into disaster and depravity. Having had a brief taste of success on the former sitcom "Greg the Bunny", Warren's life has been in a downward spiral ever since the show got cancelled. Over the past few years, Warren has paid more attention to drugs, booze and women than his career, which as of late has mostly consisted of a series of seedy exploitation films, obscure industrials, low-rent theatre productions and a regrettable string of skin flicks.

The series was created by Sean Baker, Spencer Chinoy, and Dan Milano. Warren the Ape is played by Dan Milano.

Warren the Ape is executive produced by Sean Baker, Spencer Chinoy, and Dan Milano; George Plamondon and Betsy Schechter for Picture Shack Entertainment; and Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri for Freestyle Entertainment. Liz Gateley, Brent Haynes and George McTeague are the MTV executives in charge of production.

Leading up to the launch of the show, fans wanting more can go to warren.mtv.com to find photos and the series' trailer, in addition to exclusive videos of Warren the Ape, including audition tapes for Real World and Jersey Shore. Following the show launch, each week new videos of Warren the Ape will be available on mtv.com.
