BIO CHANNEL PRESENTS "SCOTT HAMILTON: RETURN TO THE ICE"

TWO-HOUR SPECIAL FOLLOWS THE OLYMPIC FIGURE SKATING CHAMPION AS HE RETURNS TO THE ICE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIVE YEARS AFTER FIGHTING A BRAIN TUMOR

PREMIERING MONDAY, MARCH 8 AT 9PM ET / 8PM CT / 10PM PT

NEW YORK February 8, 2010 On Monday, March 8, BIO Channel presents the two-hour special, "Scott Hamilton: Return to the Ice" chronicling the Gold Medal Olympians return to skating after beating a life-threatening brain tumor. The special chronicles the 51 year old as he trains harder than ever before to make a comeback, and culminates with his first public performance on the ice in five years, at his 10th annual cancer-fundraising skating show, "An Evening with Scott Hamilton and Friends" at the Cleveland Clinic the very hospital that helped him through his battle with cancer in 1997, and his brain tumor in 2004. "Scott Hamilton: Return to the Ice" premieres Monday, March 8 at 9PM ET/8PM CT/10PM PT on BIO.

"Throughout my life I've risen to every challenge, but returning to the ice at 51 has definitely been one of the most difficult. Hopefully my latest chapter in life, as shown in this special, will inspire others to never quit and keep pursuing your dreams," said Scott Hamilton.

"Scott Hamilton: Return to the Ice" features commentary with Scott and wife Tracie Hamilton, along with fellow Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi, Steven Cousins, Jozeff Sabovcik and Jeffrey Buttle, and Scotts coaches, choreographers and doctors and profiles Scott's amazing personal story and traces his heroic and inspirational journey as he again fights the odds, and this time, his age and the results of his illnesses, day after day,

Scott Hamilton has spent a lifetime defying the odds, with skating always being credited in part for his return to health. Adopted at six weeks old, Scott later suffered from a mysterious illness at age two that stunted his growth. It wasn't clear if he'd live, but at age 9, he took up figure skating, and eventually, the frail kid became a powerful competitor: a four-time World Champion, the 1984 Gold Medal Olympian and a United States Olympic Hall of Fame inductee. In 1997, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but fought his way back and was on the ice in just a few short months. Then in 2004, Scott was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, but his indomitable spirit brought him through yet another tragedy. Throughout his battles, Scott became a best-selling author, philanthropist, figure skating commentator and World Champion. He has also appeared on film and television, as well as hosting several network specials. For the 2010 Olympic Games, Scott will again serve as network commentator for the figure skating competitions.

"Scott Hamilton: Return to the Ice" is written and produced for BIO Channel by David Hale at 44 Blue Productions, Inc. Executive Producers are Rasha Drachkovitch, Scott Hamilton and Larry A. Thompson. Executive Producers for BIO Channel are Robert Sharenow and Laura Fleury.
