G4 Secures Exclusive Cable Rights from FOX Home Entertainment

LOS ANGELES, March 24, 2009 �Mockery, ridicule and sardonic wit invade G4 when the U.S. television premiere of "The Onion Movie" debuts on April 1st. The perfect complement to April Fool's Day, "The Onion Movie" brings viewers irreverent humor and outrageous spoofs based on the wildly popular satirical newspaper. Hailed by The New Yorker as "the funniest publication in the United States," The Onion makes the leap from printed page to silver screen, parodying everything fans love in its hilarious film version. "The Onion Movie" premieres April 1, 2009 at 7:00 PM ET/PT on G4 as part of the network's popular "Movies That Don't Suck" franchise.

This political comedy that explores what happens when journalistic integrity is compromised by corporate sensibility was penned by former Onion editor-in-chief Robert Siegel and story editor Todd Hanson. The plot loosely follows the "Network"-like decline of anchorman Norm Archer (Len Cariou) who battles two double-speaking execs looking for big ratings. When Norm is asked to bend to the will of his corporate overlords he decides to strike back with a fury unheard of in the world of network news.

In the film, nothing is sacred or off-limits as the creative forces behind The Onion unleash an unrelenting barrage of satire on subjects that include pop stars, prisoners, racial stereotyping, peace talks and blockbuster action films. Viewers will experience first-hand The Onion's wicked humor and sarcastic perspective on current events, controversial issues and mainstream America.
