Based On An Oprah Book Club Selection By A. Manette Ansay

VINEGAR HILL, a new television movie starring Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds"), Tim Guinee ("Ladder 49"), Tom Skerritt ("Brothers & Sisters") and Betty Buckley ("Oz"), will be broadcast Saturday, May 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The drama, based on an Oprah book club selection by A. Manette Ansay, is a drama about a schoolteacher and her husband, Ellen and James Grier (Parker, Guinee), who are down on their luck and, with their two children, are temporarily forced to move into her husband's parents' home.

Once there, they discover that James' parents have a loveless, bitter relationship that thrives on making each other miserable. Ellen realizes that there are dark and terrifying secrets being kept inside and watches helplessly as her husband, torn between his father and herself, begins to change into a person with whom she doesn't want to live. In order for her family to survive, Ellen must discover the mysteries that are tearing everyone apart.

Tom Skerritt and Betty Buckley play James' parents, Fritz and Mary Margaret.

Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award and Tony Award Winner Mary-Louise Parker's feature film credits include "Fried Green Tomatoes," "Boys on the Side," "Naked in New York," "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Saved." Her television credits include, "Weeds" and the mini-series "Angels In America," for which she won both an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, the Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation "Cupid & Cate," on the Network and the series "The West Wing." Parker's extensive theater credits include "Proof," for which she earned a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress, "Prelude to a Kiss" for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress and "How I Learned to Drive."

Tim Guinee's feature film credits also include "Blade." His television credits include the movie "The Suitor" and the series "Strange World," and guest appearances in the series "Tarzan," "L.A. Law," "Law & Order" and "The Practice."

Tom Skerritt's feature films credits include "The Turning Point," "Mash," "Steel Magnolias," "Alien" and "Top Gun." Skerritt's television credits include the Network series "Picket Fences," for which he won an Emmy Award for Best Actor, the series "The Grid" and the television movie "The China Lake Murders." His most notable television guest appearances include "Chicago Hope," on the Network, and "Cheers."

Betty Buckley's feature films credits include "Carrie," "Wyatt Earp" and "Mummy an' the Armadillo." Her television credits include the series "Oz," and television movies "Critical Choices" and "Bonnie & Clyde: The True Story." Buckley's extensive theater credits include "Cats," which earned her the Tony Award as Best Actress in a musical, and "Triumph of Love," for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a musical. A little know fact, Buckley sang backup on Roberta Flack's 1974 hit album "Feel Like Makin' Love."

VINEGAR HILL was produced by von Zerneck-Sertner Films. Ira Pincus ("Defending Our Kids: The Julie Posey Story") is the executive producer. Peter Sadowski ("Spring Break Shark Attack") is the producer. Peter Werner ("Medium") directed the film from a script by Suzette Couture ("The Book of Ruth").
