Netflix and NBC Join Forces Again to Offer Subscribers a Specially Produced DVD Featuring 'Heroes' Series Recap, Premiere Episode of New Drama 'The Black Donnellys' and Sneak Peek at New Series 'Raines'

DVD Promotion Available Exclusively at Netflix.com

LOS GATOS, Calif. and BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 4 -- Following a successful promotional partnership in 2006, Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX), the world's largest online movie rental service, and NBC today announced they will join forces once again to offer Netflix's subscribers a unique and exclusive DVD experience. The NBC DVD will feature a specially produced, never-before-seen recap of the first eleven episodes of the hit Golden Globe-nominated series "Heroes" and the first full episode of the highly anticipated new NBC drama, "The Black Donnellys" from Academy Award winners Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco ("Crash"). Additionally, the DVD will offer a first-time sneak peek of actor Jeff Goldblum's new drama series "Raines."

Starting today, Netflix subscribers have the opportunity to add the NBC DVD to their queues. The NBC DVD will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers until January 15, when the content will also be available for viewing at NBC.com. The special DVD will be available to Netflix subscribers though the end of March. With "Heroes" on hiatus until January 22, the recap provides viewers with an easy way to catch up on the series and learn more about the characters and plot lines of the Golden Globe nominated series which Time magazine selected as one of the best shows of 2006. "The Black Donnellys" and "Raines" will join the NBC line-up this Spring.

NBC and Netflix will engage in a variety of platforms to drive awareness for this promotion, including tagged network spots and Web site presence. In addition, the promotion will be featured on the Netflix Web site and print ads inside the company's trademark red mailers. Netflix will also promote the special offer to relevant subscribers based on previous rentals and ratings of comparable content.

"We are delighted to again be working with Netflix on this special offer," said John Miller, chief marketing officer, NBC Universal Television Group. "We think the combination of an exclusive catch-up for audiences who have not yet discovered 'Heroes,' the pilot of 'The Black Donnellys,' as well as a preview of 'Raines,' will make a very attractive offering for Netflix subscribers."

"Partnering with NBC to provide original content to our subscribers that can't be found anywhere else is a tremendous value add for Netflix," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer. "Enhancing consumers' entertainment experience is the end goal for both companies and this promotion certainly achieves that goal."

About "Heroes"

From creator/writer Tim Kring (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") comes the Golden Globe nominated "Heroes," an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. As a total eclipse casts its shadow across the globe, a genetics professor (Sendhil Ramamurthy, "Blind Guy Driving") in India is led by father's disappearance to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us. A young dreamer (Milo Ventimiglia, "Gilmore Girls") tries to convince his politician brother (Adrian Pasdar, "Judging Amy") that he can fly. A high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere, "Ice Princess") learns that she is totally indestructible while trying to relate to her father (Jack Coleman, "Dynasty") who has a keen interest in people with special abilities. A Las Vegas single mother (Ali Larter, "Final Destination") struggles to make ends meet to support her young son (Noah Gray-Cabey, "My Wife & Kids") and discovers that her mirror image has a secret. A fugitive from justice (Leonard Roberts, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") continues to baffle authorities who twice have been unable to contain him. A gifted artist (Santiago Cabrera, "Empire"), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and relationship with his girlfriend (Tawny Cypress, NBC's "Third Watch"), can paint the future. A down-on-his-luck Los Angeles beat cop (Greg Grunberg, "Alias") can hear people's thoughts, which puts him on the trail of an elusive serial killer. In Japan, a young man (Masi Oka, NBC's "Scrubs") develops a way to stop time through sheer will power. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world. Joining Kring as executive producer are Dennis Hammer (NBC's "Crossing Jordan") and Allan Arkush (NBC's "Crossing Jordan"). The drama is produced by NBC Universal Television Studio in association with Tailwind Productions.

About "The Black Donnellys"

Academy Award winners Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco are the creators of NBC's "The Black Donnellys," a gritty new crime-drama series filmed in New York City and loosely based on Moresco's background. The show follows the exploits of four young, working-class Irish-American brothers and their involvement in organized crime in New York City. The Donnelly brothers will do anything to protect each other against all odds. The ensemble cast includes Kirk Acevedo, Thomas Guiry, Billy Lush, Keith Nobbs, Michael Stahl-David, Jonathan Tucker and Olivia Wilde. The pilot was directed by Haggis, who also wrote the Academy Award-winning "Million Dollar Baby." Haggis and Moresco are the creators and executive producers. The series is a production is NBC Universal Television Studio in association with Blackfriars Bridge Productions.

About "Raines"

Emmy-Award winning writer-producer Graham Yost ("Band of Brothers," "Boomtown") and star Jeff Goldblum ("The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Independence Day," "The Fly") combine creative forces in "Raines," an inventive police drama, which blends traditional noir storytelling with humor and intrigue. Eccentric LAPD Detective Michael Raines (Goldblum) has a unique ability -- his imagination is so keen that when he's on a murder case, the murder victims actually take shape in front of him.

At first he thinks he's losing his mind, but he finds that talking to these constantly evolving hallucinations (they're figments of his imagination, not ghosts) helps him discover their killers. Raines struggles to accept his peculiar gift -- or burden -- and reconcile it with his daily life. Also prominent in Raines' life are his understanding boss, Captain Daniel Lewis (Matt Craven, "From the Earth to the Moon"); an antagonistic uniformed officer, Remi Moyer (Dov Davidoff, "Third Watch"); Boyer's long suffering partner, Officer Michelle Lance (Linda Park, "Star Trek:Enterprise"); sharp-tongued civilian employee Carolyn Crumley (Nicole Sullivan, "MADtv"); his former partner, Charlie Lincoln (Malik Yoba, "Thief"); and therapist Samantha Kohl (Madeleine Stowe, "The Last of the Mohicans", "We Were Soldiers"). "Raines" is from NBC Universal Television Studio.
