LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS is shelving its planned midseason drama "Waterfront."
The series, from creator Jack Orman ("dr. vegas"), starred Joe Pantoliano as the charismatic and ethically challenged mayor of Providence, Rhode Island.
Production had been completed on four episodes of the series (in addition to its pilot) meaning all five completed hours will sit on the shelf.
Several reasons for the decision were given by CBS executives, including creative issues, high production costs and limited time slot needs.
Warner Bros. Television was behind the project, which also starred Larenz Tate, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mary Stuart Masterson, Natalia Cigliuti and William Baldwin. Richard J. Lewis directed the pilot.
