NBC PRIMETIME RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF AUG. 28-SEPT. 3

BURBANK, Calif. � September 6, 2006 � NBC averaged a 1.9 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall for the week of August 28-September 3, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Primetime averages for the week of August 28-September 3 in adults 18-49 were Fox and ABC (2.2/7), CBS (2.1/7), NBC (1.9/6), Univision (1.5/5), UPN and WB (0.7/2) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (7.0 million), ABC (6.3 million), Fox (6.1 million), NBC (5.8 million), Univision (3.5 million), WB (1.9 million), UPN (1.8 million) and Telemundo (0.9 million).

Since the end of the traditional broadcast season, NBC is running #2 (tied with CBS) in adults 18-49. The current summer-to-date averages in 18-49 are Fox (2.4), NBC and CBS (2.1) and ABC (1.9) for the period May 25-September 3.

NBC highlights for the week of August 28-September 3:

On Sunday, NBC Sports coverage of NASCAR racing from Fontana, Calif., paced NBC to a first-place finish for the night in adults 18-49. For the week, the race ranked #9 (out of a total of 120 programs) in adults 18-49, #3 among men 18-49 and #2 among men 25-54

On Tuesday, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" was #1 in its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and virtually all key ratings measures. With 9.9 million overall total viewers, it was the "most-watched" program on network television Tuesday night and by that measure delivered its biggest audience of the summer. "SVU" ranked #9 (tied) out of a total 120 programs this week in adults 18-49 and #2 in total viewers.

On Friday, "Las Vegas" won its hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, rolling its highest 18-49 rating of the summer.

Also on Friday, "Dateline NBC" ranked #1 in its hour in adults 18-49 (tie), adults 25-54 and total viewers, matching its highest Friday 18-49 rating of the summer.

On Monday, the NBC News special "Katrina: The Long Road Back" reported NBC's top 18-49 rating in the time period in 10 weeks and the biggest total viewership in 12 weeks. Also on Monday, a special "Dateline NBC" matched the network's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since June 19 and attracted the highest total viewership since June 5.

Excluding sports, 18-49 averages for the 2005-06 broadcast year to date are Fox (a 3.5 rating), CBS (3.3), ABC (3.1), NBC (2.8), WB (1.1) and UPN (1.1). This summer, non-sports 18-49 averages are: Fox (a 2.3 rating), NBC (2.1), CBS (2.1), ABC (1.8), UPN (0.7) and WB (0.7).

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of live only results through December 25 and "live plus seven day" data since then, except for the two most recent weeks, which are live plus same day.

Additional NBC highlights for the week of August 28-September 3:

On Monday, August 28 at 9 p.m. ET, a special "Dateline NBC" (2.4 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall) matched the network's highest 18-49 rating in this time period in nine weeks (since June 19) and attracted the network's biggest total viewership in the slot in 12 weeks (since June 5). "Dateline," which featured Victoria Corderi's update of her report on Internet adoption schemes, built by 33 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in from the previous hour � a 1.8/5 in 18-49 and 5.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. for the NBC News special "Katrina: The Long Road Back," which itself reported NBC's top 18-49 rating in this time period in 10 weeks (since June 19) and largest overall viewership in the time period in 12 weeks (since June 5)

On Tuesday, August 29 at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 9.9 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and virtually all key measures. "SVU" delivered its highest 18-49 rating in three weeks and its highest overall viewership of the summer. It built by 53 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in � a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers overall for an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" from 9-10 p.m. From 8-9 p.m., "Fear Factor" averaged a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall.

On Wednesday, August 30 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Most Outrageous Moments" averaged a 1.8/6 in adults 18-49 and 6.0 million viewers overall. At 8:30 p.m., a second encore "Most Outrageous Moments" delivered a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m. a "Scrubs" rebroadcast delivered a 1.9/6 in 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall and at 9:30 p.m. a second encore "Scrubs" averaged a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall. At 10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers overall.

On Thursday, August 31 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore "My Name is Earl" averaged a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall. At 8:30 p.m., a rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall and at 9 p.m., another encore of "The Office" averaged a 1.5/4 and 3.4 million viewers overall. The 9:30 p.m. encore of "The Office" delivered a 1.6/4 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall. And at 10 p.m., "Windfall" delivered a 1.3/5 in 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers overall. Note that due to local preemptions for NFL pre-season football, NBC's 8-10 p.m. programming was cleared in 85 percent of the country and "Windfall" was cleared in 89 percent of the country.

On Friday, September 1 at 8 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.7/6 in 18-49 and 6.0 million viewers overall) matched its highest Friday 18-49 rating of the summer. "Dateline" was #1 in adults 18-49 (tied), adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore "Las Vegas" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers and rolled its highest 18-49 rating of the summer. At 10 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order" averaged a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.

On Saturday, September 2 at 9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) built by 18 percent on its 18-49 lead-in from the previous hour � a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall for an encore "Most Outrageous Moments" from 8:30-9 p.m. At 10 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) built by 15 percent on its 18-49 lead-in from "Dateline."

On Sunday, September 3, NBC Sports coverage of NASCAR Racing from Fontana, Calif., averaged a 2.9/10 in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers overall from 8 p.m.-midnight, ET, pacing NBC to a #1 finish for the night in the key demographic of adults 18-49. The primetime portion of the race from 8-11 p.m. was up 53 percent in adults 18-49 versus NBC's regular program summer average for this time period (2.8 vs. 1.9). The NASCAR "Tune-Up" from 7-8 p.m. ET averaged a 1.3/6 in 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall.
