NBC Primetime Results for the Week of April 17-23

NBC PRIMETIME RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 17-23

BURBANK, Calif. -� April 25, 2006 -� NBC averaged a 2.4 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.1 million viewers overall for the week of April 17-23 according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Primetime averages for the week of April 17-23 in adults 18-49 were Fox (4.1/12), CBS (3.3/9), ABC (2.8/8), NBC (2.4/7), Univision (1.6/5), WB (1.3/4), UPN (1.2/4) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (11.9 million), Fox (9.8 million), ABC (7.9 million), NBC (7.1 million), Univision (3.7 million), WB (3.0 million), UPN (2.9 million) and Telemundo (0.8 million). NOTE: Among the key NBC shows that were either in rebroadcast or pre-empted during this week were "ER," "My Name is Earl," "The Office," "Will & Grace," the Wednesday and Friday editions of "Deal or No Deal," "Law & Order: SVU," "The Apprentice," "Law & Order" and "Las Vegas."

NBC highlights for the week of April 17-23:

* On Monday, "Deal or No Deal" ranked #1 in 18-49, total viewers and all key measures. "Deal" was up 50 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's pre-"Deal" season average for the time period (excluding Olympics) and was 29 percent ahead of its nearest competitor in the hour (Fox's "Prison Break") in adults 18-49.

* On Tuesday, "Scrubs" jump-started the 9 p.m. hour, growing by 142 percent in 18-49 versus its lead-in. "Scrubs," which ranked #2 in its highly competitive time period in adults, men and women 18-34, was up 12 percent in adults 18-49 versus its performance on the same night last year.

* On Thursday, encore episodes of "Will & Grace" and "My Name is Earl" ranked #2 in adults 18-49, outperforming such first-run competition as ABC's "American Inventor" and Fox's "The O.C."

* On Friday, an encore telecast of "Deal or No Deal" was #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings measures.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of live only results through Dec. 25 and "live plus seven day" data since then, except for the two most recent weeks, which are live plus same day.

Non-sports averages for the 2005-06 television season among adults 18-49 are: Fox (a 3.9 rating), CBS (3.8), ABC (3.7), NBC (3.1), WB (1.3), and UPN (1.2).

Additional NBC highlights for the week of April 17-23:

On Monday, April 17, from 8-9:02 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (4.5 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49, 15.3 million viewers overall) finished #1 in the time period in 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. In 18-49, "Deal" prevailed by 29 percent over its nearest competitor in the hour (4.5 vs. 3.5 for Fox's "Prison Break") and posted a 50 percent improvement versus NBC's pre-"Deal" non-sports season average for the time period (4.5 vs. 3.0). From its first half-hour to its second, "Deal" surged by 31 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 5.1/14 from a 3.9/12) and by more than 2.5 million viewers.

Also on Monday, at 10 p.m. ET, "Medium" (3.9/10 in 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall) was a strong #2 in the hour in 18-49 and other key measures, outperforming the time period premiere of "What About Brian" on ABC by 22 percent in 18-49. "Medium" increased by 39 percent in 18-49 versus its lead-in from the 9 p.m. hour � a 2.8/7 in 18-49 and 8.2 million viewers overall from the debut telecast of "Celebrity Cooking Showdown."

On Tuesday, April 18 at 9 p.m. ET, "Scrubs" (2.9/7 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) finished #2 among adults, men and women 18-34. "Scrubs" was up 12 percent in adults 18-49 versus its performance in this slot on the same night last year (2.9/7 vs. 2.6/7). "Scrubs" jump-started at 9 p.m., increasing by 142 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in from the previous hour � a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers overall for "Celebrity Cooking Showdown" from 8-9 p.m. ET. At 9:30 p.m. ET, "Teachers" averaged a 2.2/5 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall.

Tuesday at 10 p.m., an encore "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.3/9 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) ranked #1 (tied with CBS' "Criminal Minds" encore) in adults 18-49, having erased a 105 percent lead-in advantage for CBS from the 9:30-10:00 p.m. half-hour (4.5/11 vs. 2.2/5). "SVU" won the hour outright in adults, men and women 18-34 and women 18-49.

Wednesday April 19 at 10 p.m. ET, an encore "Law & Order" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) built by 92 percent on its 18-49 lead-in from the previous hour -- a 1.3/3 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall for "Heist" from 9:01-10 p.m. ET.

Thursday April 20 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore "Will & Grace" (2.0/7 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, beating first-run competition from ABC's "American Inventor," WB's "Smallville," UPN's "Everybody Hates Chris" and an encore of Fox's "That '70s Show." At 8:30 p.m., an encore "My Name is Earl" delivered a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall.

Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "My Name is Earl" (3.3/9 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, beating such first-run competition as "American Inventor" on ABC and "The O.C." on Fox. "Earl" built by 65 percent in 18-49 versus its lead-in from the previous half-hour and was up 6 percent in 18-49 and 12 percent in total viewers versus the prior week's encore telecast in the time period.

At 9:30 p.m., an encore telecast of "The Office" (3.0/8 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) retained 91 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Earl" and was up 15 percent in 18-49 and 12 percent in total viewers versus the previous week's "Office" rebroadcast.

At 10 p.m. ET, an encore "ER" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, outperforming a first-run "Commander-in-Chief" on ABC.

On Friday, April 21 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Deal or No Deal" (2.5/9 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories. From its first half-hour to its second, "Deal" increased by 27 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.8/10 from a 2.2/9) and its overall viewership grew by more than 1.5 million viewers.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Miss USA 2006" averaged a 2.2/7 in 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall. "Miss USA" finished #1 for the time period among adults 18-34.

On Sunday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET, "The West Wing" (2.3/6 in 18-49, 8.4 million viewers overall) earned its second-highest 18-49 rating and highest overall viewership since Nov. 6. "The West Wing" built by 77 percent in adults 18-49 and by 3.2 million total viewers on its lead-in -- a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall for "Dateline NBC" from 7-8 p.m. ET.

Sunday at 9 p.m., "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (3.2/7 in 18-49, 11.1 million viewers overall) improved by 39 percent in 18-49 rating and by 2.7 million overall viewers versus its lead-in. "Criminal Intent" ranked #2 for the time period in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

At 10 p.m. ET, "Crossing Jordan" (3.6/9 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall) built on its 18-49 lead-in by 13 percent to rank #2 by virtually all key measures. "Crossing Jordan" matched its second-highest 18-49 rating since Oct. 30.
