'Anything to Win,' GSN's First Weekly Documentary Series Premieres January 10 With a Special Two-Hour Episode Focused on Rosie Ruiz and The Boston Marathon

Ruiz Gives Her First On-Camera Interview Since the 1980 Scandal

Upcoming Episodes Will Highlight Johnnie Cochran, Tonya Harding and Arnold Schwarzenegger

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 15 -- Throughout the history of human competition, people have gone to great lengths for the glory and prestige of victory. GSN, the network for games, will tell stories of individuals' often-unbelievable attempts to win in a signature weekly hour-long documentary series, ANYTHING TO WIN. ANYTHING TO WIN premieres Tuesday, January 10 at 9:00 PM ET/PT with a special two-hour episode on Rosie Ruiz and the Boston Marathon Scandal.

ANYTHING TO WIN will spotlight those who have pushed the limits -- some to success, others to failure. The topics will run the gamut: from Bobby Fischer, the greatest chess player of his generation, to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnnie Cochran, men who rose from humble beginnings to reset the standards for achievement in their respective fields. ANYTHING TO WIN will also tell the tales of competitions gone awry, such as the Tonya Harding saga, or outright cheating such as the Pennsylvania Lottery Scandal.

The first topic to be presented in the series is the story of Rosie Ruiz, a 26-year-old New Yorker who was the first woman to cross the finish line in the Boston Marathon in 1980, a year of great significance for the Marathon as the U.S. was boycotting the Moscow Olympics because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Minutes after her victory where "she came out of nowhere," race officials questioned her record-setting finish time for several reasons, not the least of which was the fact that her presence had not been noted at any of the race's official checkpoints. Days later, Ruiz was stripped of her title and Jacqueline Gareau was declared the winner.

For the first time since 1980, Ruiz gives an on-camera interview exclusively on ANYTHING TO WIN and tells the world her side of the story. Also interviewed are Gareau, men's winner Bill Rodgers, race officials and reporters who broke the unbelievable story more than two decades ago.

ANYTHING TO WIN will feature 13 episodes or documentaries, produced by Creative Differences and Asylum Entertainment. Erik Nelson, Dave Harding and Frank Sinton serve as executive producers. Nelson and Harding, the team behind BIG BUCKS: THE PRESS YOUR LUCK SCANDAL, GSN's first and highly successful documentary special, have produced more than 400 hours of programming for 12 different networks. Recently, Nelson also produced his first theatrical documentary, Werner Herzog's critically acclaimed "Grizzly Man." Asylum Entertainment, founded in 2000, created the 10-time Emmy nominated series "Beyond the Glory" and the Emmy nominated series "Fearless."

GSN, the Network for Games, is the only U.S. television network dedicated to game-related programming. The network features game shows, reality series, documentaries and casino games. As the industry leader in interactivity, GSN has allowed viewers to play-along with on-air programming via their computers and GSN.com since 2002. Reaching more than 57 million Nielsen homes, GSN is distributed in the U.S. through all major cable systems and satellite providers. The network is jointly owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Media Corporation. For further media information, visit GSN's press website at corp.gsn.com.
